1 Timothy 2
Easy-to-Read Version
God Wants Us to Pray for Everyone
2 First of all, I ask that you pray for all people. Ask God to bless them and give them what they need. And give thanks. 2 You should pray for rulers and for all who have authority. Pray for these leaders so that we can live quiet and peaceful lives—lives full of devotion to God and respect for him. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior.

4 God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth. 5 There is only one God, and there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who as a man 6 gave himself to pay for everyone to be free. This is the message that was given to us at just the right time. 7 And I was chosen as an apostle to tell people that message. (I am telling the truth. I am not lying.) I was chosen to teach those who are not Jews to believe and understand the truth.

Special Instructions for Men and Women
8 I want the men everywhere to pray. Men who lift their hands in prayer must be devoted to God and pleasing to him. They must be men who keep themselves from getting angry and having arguments.

From the context, it is clear middle man has to do with the cross not prayer. We know from Romans 8 that the Holy Spirit intercedes too. Also, many saints on earth intercedes or prays too.

Why, then, the Law [what was its purpose]? It was added [after the promise to Abraham, to reveal to people their guilt] because of transgressions [that is, to make people conscious of the sinfulness of sin], and [the Law] was ordained through angels and delivered to Israel by the hand of a mediator [Moses, the mediator between God and Israel, to be in effect] until the Seed would come to whom the promise had been made.

That's what I meant. He was in Heaven before and he came down as God and man into Mary's immaculate womb.
Your here proposing something other than normal humanity for Mary. If that was true, then Jesus wasn't like us in His humanity and wouldn't be able to save us.

In short, your denying His humanity in the elevation of Mary not found in Scripture. She was young, she was a virgin... A good and beautiful young woman I'm positive.. but she was as human and prone to faults as I am.

Hello, my name is Jerry. I've been a lifelong christian, but, largely spiritual, as I called it. I had an awakening. Not sure what, though, but I do know it was in April. I felt moved to get a bible (Amplified Study Bible) and started watching Christian YouTubes, in particular, Lions of Judah. I've started correcting my behavior and praying. I'm not in fear of my life, but my soul. I stopped watching porn, stopped cursing, though, people around me still curse. I still fail and curse at times. I am regretful when I do so. Whereever I could see that I'm sinning, I try to fix. I have some things to fix with my wife, my second wife. I don't know how to fix my divorce. All I can do is ask for forgiveness.

I pray but I'm not the most eloquent. I've been hard of hearing since I was three years old. I'm now 59 years old. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm born again. There was no big revelation or insight or issues with problems. I just felt moved. I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do. I do know that I need to fix my sins and where I can, apologise to those people I've wronged. As for my life, I had to deal with my hearing loss. I wear aids and do okay except I found that people treat me differently, especially if they don't know me well. I have a friend at work who curses like a sailor but bless his heart and soul, he's treated me like a person and talks to me.

Anyways, God, bless everyone, especially the children. Amen
Hi Jerry, and welcome.

Sounds like you are in the midst of a conversion experience to becoming a Christ follower, aka being born again. 🙏👏

As others have suggested, you will have to seek out the will of the Father for you, and learn to hear the mostly inaudible voice of Jesus so you can move in His direction.

A suggested complementary Bible Version to the Amplified is the New American Standard Bible 1995 release. Some say it's captured the original text based on the context of within which a scripture was couched, and accurately translated it into contemporary languages. The newer releases of the NASB have apparently clouded the translations because of the want to achieve contemporary political correctness.

FWIW, I've chosen to remain solely with the church of God that He joined me up with when I was born again. I decided it was not in my best interest to join a denomination or any other form of regimented religion.

Shalom,

Tony

So true... and if Mary needed to be sinless so Jesus could be born without sin, what of Mary's mother?
Was she likewise sinless, so Mary could be born sinless? We would then have to go all the way back to Eve...

Stop

Stop trying to fix things, jump into Jesus like you would jump into a swimming pool. He'll do all the fixing up.

"Oh Jesus fix me up today" should be your prayer ... eloquence not needed.

Welcome :)

It's more than that though. Jesus, in His humanity, fulfilled the (just) requirements of the law. This is how He became the second Adam, and our Savior.

Had Mary been perfect and not just a human like us, then Jesus wouldn't be our Savior - because she would have fulfilled the just requirements of the law and inherited the keys of sin and death, and thus become our Savior.

But the Scripture is clear, only Christ fulfilled the law, only Christ overcame sin and death, making Him our Savior, and no one else. Because for anyone else, it was impossible. It took God in the flesh to accomplish what we could not.

Welcome Jerry F,

In JOHN 6:44, Jesus said,

""No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.""

It seems to me that the father is calling to you, and you are on the right path. Knowledge of God and what he expects of us is in the scriptures and also in our hearts. It is not an easy path but nothing is easy anyways so better to do the right thing and get closer to the LORD and his Son Jesus who saves.

Jesus is always with you, never forget this, ask and you shall receive.

Blessings and again welcome.

Yeah, that sort of thing is everywhere now. It's a direct attempt to destroy the church from within..

Being careful about what church you attend is so important now, so that your not sitting under a false teaching.

I'm currently in a PCA church, for me thats the best option (since I am of the reformed doctrine) even though I don't believe in paedobaptism.. at least the teachings are good otherwise.
Precisely, why I'm going to be very careful. I have nothing against Liberals, except, when they force their beliefs on you. My wife is more liberal than I am, although, she's moving towards the center due to the shenanigans of the Left in the last 2-3 years.

You are bearing false witness.

Robo is the owner of this site, and mods will enforce the rules.

Certainly not Catholicism :)
I find from experience that everyone needs and view God differently. Some may need a loving God and would gravitate to a church empasizing that. Some may need a stern God and gravitate to a church like that. I've always viewed God as an infinite diamond with infinite facets with each facet for a person. He's not a diamond, of course, as I'm only using a diamond as an analogy. Anyways, be Blessed and Loved.

Some are born and raised in a church and believe they are saved when they
are not because they follow traditions of men without being born again.

Blessings also to you :)
