"Why do you keep far away, O Lord? Why are you not to be seen in times of trouble?" (Psalm 10:1)
I know what this verse means... just a bit...
How have you been Francesco?
So, you had to go to David huh? :)
In David, we see that he is human like us, with some qualities far worse than us, but he is communicating to God during all times, which is something that we should all do from the heart.

If you feel "depression" from the separation from God, take comfort in the Miracles from God which tell us that we are not alone here.
We don't know why sometimes we may not get a response from Prayer or a miracle in our personal lives, or we may get it into a way which we don't recognize during the journey but are able to recognize when we arrive at the destination.
But in large miracles throughout history, we know that God is undeniably here with us.

Of course they can. As pointed out above, it's mental or physical. Our minds and bodies are frail and imperfect.

Very good answer. Thank you.

Yes, it's true, but I mean a spiritual condition. The sensation of being far from God. Excuse my English; I surely could express better in Italian what I mean.
I've usually heard that being called "spiritual dryness." I think every Christian goes through that from time to time.

op: Might a believer experience depression?
As an Italian "spiritual dryness" is a new expression for me. Thanks
Precious friend, good to hear from you, and thanks for asking. Yes,
I believe so, especially for new and immature believers, but God Has
Hope for "Growth In His Amazing Grace," eh?:

OF course!!! Happens all the time.
Yes it can happen especially to a Christian who is on the front of the line

For example we have Elijah going into the desert after the great victory over the prophets of Baal

I Kings 19: 3 Elijah was afraid[a] and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.

It is certainly ok to long for our heavenly home. There is no friend like Jesus. "I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly rest on Jesus name." I will pray with you, dear precious friend.

True, being on the front lines exposes us to more fighting, and Elijah's example is particularly apt. Thanks bro.

Psalm 139:1-11,14,17-18,23-24 KJV
O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
[2] Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
[3] Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
[4] For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
[5] Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

[6] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
[7] Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

[8] If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

[9] If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
[10] Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

[11] If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

[14] I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

[17] How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
[18] If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

[23] Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

[24] And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
