Here are a few simple suggestions to make your time here on CC more enjoyable for you, as well as others.
First a link to the rules of the site, in case you missed them : http://christianchat.com/rules.php
-No Caps: Typing in all caps is considered yelling in online etiquette, not to mention just annoying to many.
-Watch Your Thread Placement: When posting a new thread idea, ensure you are putting it in the appropriate section of the forums.
-No Zombie Threads: The top left corner of every post has a time/date. This tells you when that post was put up. When going more than one or two pages into the history of a section, check the dates to make sure you aren't bringing up an old thread.
-Use Paragraphs: Sometimes people write out long texts and forget to use breaks in their writing. This creates a 'wall of text' effect that is difficult or uncomfortable for many to read. Often this will cause your post to be passed over by many people. So if you are writing something a bit longer, give that enter button a couple taps to break up the wall.
Bear in mind, the above statement is not a list of site rules but merely suggestions to make things easier for everyone.
Reporting Posts: When reporting a user for a post, make sure you have legitimate reasons before pressing the report button. Some examples of valid reasons would be:
-Offensive language, images or links. This could include sexual, racist or any other inflamatory statements
-Blatantly anti-Christian/anti-God posts
-Personal attacks or threats
-Soliciting (as explained in the rules linked above)
-Users attempting to convert others to their religion/beliefs
-Users attempting to disprove our faith/beliefs
-Spamming a thread or the site as a whole
-Stalking behavior or pushing you for personal information
-Harassment such as following your posts just to argue or insult you
These are just some things to give you an idea on what is a true reason to report. An example of a bad reason would be having a different view or doctrine than you.
A few useful pieces of information:
-There is a forum for women only. It takes being a member for one week before a woman gains access to this area.
-There is no forum only for men.
-A five minute time limit is in effect to edit/delete your posts. After that they cannot be altered or removed by a Mod/Admin except in special cases or break the rules or personal information. The site owner has his reasons for this time frame. So before posting, check your spelling, the accuracy of your information and whatever else is important to you.
-We do have a section where you can ask for help about the site, or general Tech questions. Please post your questions there before attempting to contact a Mod/Admin/Owner personally.http://christianchat.com/user2user-tech-support/
-There is also a section for giving suggestions on how to improve the sites function or appearance. Keep in mind these are only suggestions and may not be used, or if they are it may not be right away.http://christianchat.com/suggestions/
-Names in pink are female. Names in blue are male.
-Names in red are Mods (chat room only).
-Mods/Admins are volunteers, there is no schedule for any of them to be on. So there may be times no one is available, so just be patient.
-If you wish to delete your account, send a Mod/Admin a PM/mail and inform them. Keep in mind there is a fee of $5 to return to the site after you have your account delete, so make sure you don't want to return.
-To change your name is a $5 fee as well. Creating new names without paying IS against the rules and can cause you to be banned.
-The paid name change creates a new account, it does not rename your present account. This means you will lose all rep, likes, PM, etc..
These are just a few tips to help you out. I'm sure there are more, but these are some of the more common. I hope you found this and the following visuals helpful. Enjoy the site.
