I asked my Muslim neighbor, "Can God do anything?" God became a man, I said.

"You worship three gods,"she said.

I said, "No! There is only one God! Three persons, one God." She seemed surprised.

Can you give me suggestions as to how to reach my Muslim neighbor? She's from Bangladesh, and she prays five times a day. "I pray five times a day," she said. "You pray?" she asked. I told her I pray all day, and she looked surprised.

I gave her a Bible in Bengali, and also the Jesus Film in her native tongue. I'm new to Christianchat, so I'm trying to find where I should post. Thanks.

The thing is that the Trinity is a difficult truth to grasp, even for seasoned Christians. But it's impossible to grasp for non-Christians - those who don't have Holy Spirit living inside them. So pray for her, keep talking with her and see what happens. Good on you, mate.

Re: I asked my Muslim neighbor, "Can God do anything?" God became a man, I said.

You should show her verses from the bible, I have a few saved here, but I cant copy paste on this site for some reason. But I can give you some, and hopefully others can help too.

Isaiah 43:10-11
You are my witness, declares the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no god formed, and there will be none after Me. For I, even I, am the Lord. And there is no savior besides Me.

John 8:24
I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am He, you will indeed die in your sins

In John 20:28-29 Christ asks Thomas who He is to him, and Thomas answers "you are my Lord and my God", and Christ says "blessed are those who believe without seeing".

John 14:9-11 Christ tells Phillip that he who has seen Christ has seen the Father.

John 8:58 Christ tells the pharisees "Before Abraham was, I Am!"

John 10:30-33 The Jews gather together to stone Him, and He asks why they do this, and they tell Him they do so because He makes Himself equal with god.

Isaiah 9:6 is the prophecy of a child being given to us, and He would be called Mighty God, Everlasting Father.

1 John 4:1 John warns us to test the spirits, as many false prophets have went out into the world.
(Muhammad tells us an angel gave him his revelations)

Galatians 1:8 tell us that either any man or angel that gives a doctrine contrary to Christs is cursed.

Luke 24:44 Christ claims that the prophecies by the prophets and in Pslams and from Moses concern Him.

Jeremiah 23:5-6 is another prophecy of the branch of David coming to be Our Lord and Righteous Savior.

Revelation 22:13-16 Christ tells John He is the first and the last, the root and offspring of David.

Muslims prove their doctrine of Christ being just a prophet with verses where Christ prayed to God, and called out to Him. But Christ told us He came to serve, and not to be served. He came as a man, a servant, and He died as one, too. Being the sacrifice for our sins. His crying out to God on the cross is prophecy too.

Pslams 22:1, He is prophecised to cry out to God "why have you forsaken me?"

You should also look into people who have studied this subject in depth, and have a good understanding of the bible and the quran. I like watching them on youtube, theres a show I like called Jesus or Muhammad on youtube I really like, I also like another show called Armageddon News on youtube. Their show exist to prove how islam ties into biblical prophecy, but alot of what I have learned about islam and how it goes against the bible come from that show. And Walid Shoebat, he was a former muslim terrorist who has come to Christ who works to help people see how islam is not of God. You could probly find works by other people too, but you should definitely study up on it.

And its unlikely she will come to the Lord immideatly. Muslims are raised to deny Christ entirely, and are told its polytheism, and that Christ never said He was God with us. Theyve been pressed with this everyday, and believe its a sin to believe He is the Lord, and believe that the bible has been corrupted. I once heard a story from a former muslim, now follower of Christ. He met a pastor as a child, and his pastor asked him why Christ was crucified. He replied with the muslim teaching, that Christ did not die on the cross, that a man was made to look like Christ. But Christ never died on the cross. His pastor then said this was fine, and asked why they crucified this man who looked like Him, then. He realized the truth, that He was crucified for blasphemy, for putting Himself as equal with God. There were two groups of people in His time, people who bowed before Him as God, and people who wanted to kill Him for blasphemy. There is no record of a man called Christ that claimed to be nothing more than a prophet, that told us not to call him our God and savior. I think thats the best argument with muslims.

Hope that helps, Ill come with more if I think of it.

Amen, dalconn...only the Holy Spirit can indeed remove the scales from her indoctrination and birth into a muslim culture and society, meaning she is islamic, period. However, I do not know anyone automatically knowing JESUS CHRIST at their birth and instantly becoming a holy spirit filled CHRISTIAN. We all come from all walks of life and then we get introduced to JESUS, as the Holy spirit opens doors and opportunities that point us in Christ's direction. A seed has been planted by the sharing of CHRIST into her life at this moment but she is battling it because it goes against her belief system. There is hope, yet...as down the road other testimonies, Scripture and witnessing takes place in her life.

Prayers!
You can try to explain the three-in-one by telling about a person who has 3 kind of 'jobs' For example: mother, daughter and also teacher. The same woman, but different acts. I'll pray for you!

Hi Pat! I just finished a book yesterday by Nabeel Qureshi, about his life testimony how he came to know the gospel and understood the trinity. It's called "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus" and it gives us both perspectives of the Christian and the Muslim, some historical and philosophical analysis of Islam and Jesus. I'm sure it will help give you ideas how to reach out to this neighbor. Well, hopefully :D

Muslims are taught that the Holy Bible is corrupt - therefore, the only way to get through to her is to show her where her own Koran was copied from the Holy Bible.

If she is Bengali, then she does not know Arabic, so it should be relatively easy to show her the proper interpretation of her book of faith...and that Jesus is God Almighty.

From my experience, muslims will usually almost always ask "where in the bible did Christ call Himself God?" Its good to have an answer to that : p

Re: I asked my Muslim neighbor, "Can God do anything?" God became a man, I said.

By saying that, you are limiting God to your own rules, and ignoring what He Himself has given us.

Isaiah 9:6- For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. And the government shall rest upon His shoulders. And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Imagine if you were the king of a great nation. One day your people are carrying you on your throne across your kingdom. And when passing by a deep puddle of mud, you see your child drowning in it. Would you not throw off your royal robes and jump into the mud to save him?

I believe that the only way for you to convert her or any person is your living example. Does the other person saw Jesus's character in you? If they do, they will became curious to know about you then tell her about Jesus.

Thats the way we as Christians should do when witnessing for Christ. Its no use telling non-believers how great is Jesus when you are living not right with God.

We have the word! The message of the gospel is effective as long as one is spirit led. The word cuts through the darkness and this being an example and not building a friendship. We dont know if that person will step out in traffic and get hit by a bus tomorrow. We are instructed to go out and make fishermen of men not to build relationships.

Thats how all Christians in Asia countries did to convert non-believers to Jesus Christ. By their own examples, powerful and yet effective:eek:

You are slapping your own cheek when you tell non-believers how good Jesus is when your life does not show:eek:

its always going to be 3 gods to anyone that studies the bible. this is why Jews will never join our Faith, nothing to do with what Jesus taught, and everything to do with what man teaches about Jesus. i would think its same for muslims.

The reason why she looked surprised, is that she doesn't know that much about Pray, Muslims can spend the whole day praying if they want. there are things in Islam ' Must be done like to pray 5 times a day' and there are another things ' you can do them if you want'.
what you need to show her is that Christianity has no big different than Islam.
My advice to you, Dont dig deep with such discussions if you dont have that much of information about both religions.

Re: I asked my Muslim neighbor, "Can God do anything?" God became a man, I said.

Islam is a false religion. Your friend is on her way to hell if she doesn't leave that religion. Muslims can pray until their blue in the face, but unless it's God they are praying to, it won't do them any good, nor will it save them and make them go to heaven.

To mozart: there is a BIG difference between Islam and Christianity.. Muslims worship Mohammed, and christians worship Jesus Christ. Christians pray whenever we want to or need to, Muslims pray at certain appointed times. Not to mention, Muslims are killing christians right now. :/ Christians don't kill anyone..
