For the love of... Movies!

And I thought I was the only person I would ever know who'd seen Ladyhawke ^.^ Definitely a great movie. And that reminds me!

Escape from Sobibor

^ A great historical/war movie about the ONLY mass escape from a termination camp in WWII Nazi-land. It stars Rutger Hauer, the guy who played Captain Navarre in Ladyhawke, who also played the bad guy in the Stallone movie Nighthawks. Highly recommended, though maybe not all scenes are great for the whole fam.

I LOVE movies. I watch on average 2 movies a week. Most of them are repeats. The only genres I don't watch are horror, and gory/bloody/violent/too much nudity. I think I've watched almost all family movies and rom coms there are -_- I'll list my favorites (all that I can remember).

It is great to say lol. Before that movie, I never thought to question the hot dog/bun ratio. Why for the love of mustard are there never enough buns?

I trend toward dramas, although I also like some Sci-fi, Superhero, and some Westerns. Film Noir is a niche I enjoy.
I probably could (I never really thought much about it) make a list of about 75 to maybe around 90 films I could watch many times without tiring of viewing them. Works of art, many of them, whatever that means. To me, anyway.

A Streetcar Named Desire
Brando, the best actor ever. Not to mention that even though I am male he draws me in with his magnetism.

The Godfather
Great movie, more Brando. It doesn't hurt that I am Italian and raised in NYC.

Citizen Kane
Epic. Says so much about life, as all great movie dramas do.

Casablanca
The sacrifices people sometimes make for the greater good inspires me. Something many in this country seems to have forgotten.

Lawrence of Arabia

The older I get, the more I appreciate the simple themes of family and home.

Midnight in Paris
A sweet whimsical tale.

Lost in Translation
Nice depiction of aging, and loneliness, and relational struggles.

Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese do a great job portraying the perils of Manhattan life in the mid seventies and the deep dark places the human mind can sometimes go.

The Wrestler
Life can be tough.

The Grapes of Wrath
Ditto.

A hard look at what drives and shapes people and how they express themselves, interact, and perceive.
