So it will be the big 50th birthday in 3 months.

People keep asking me what will I be doing and
I haven’t a clue!

Im free, single, not so young any more, although
I do try to play my part my colouring my hair
purple and wear Doc Martin boots.

I feel like people expect me to say I’m going
parachute jumping or something, or at least
that I’m going to throw a massive party, get
drunk and start popping out babies. Lol

Most likely it will be spent at home
looking after my aunt! Although maybe I will go
to the pictures or a cafe or something with one
or two friends.

So much pressure to live it large, then become
an old person afterwards and start acting my age.

Anyway I wondered how you had celebrated
big birthdays as a single person. You know
those 21st birthdays which you keep having
every 10 years!

Oh yes I really do have purple hair and I have
no idea why one of those pictures is sideways!:D

I was upset when I turned 30 as I realised my misspent youth
was over.
Do what I did when I turned 50 years of age.
A quiet no fuss birthday with family to mark a milestone
(I had outlived my father) and things were fairly OK.
Now I could claim to be wise and knowledgeable.

And in the end nothing really changed much.
The kitchen sink was still there, along with the vacuum cleaner,
and the lawnmower and the washing machine.
Yeah and at 51 it was still the same.

But every extra year of being in the Lord by his indwelling Holy Spirit
now that is good.
Every year is a year of faithful spiritual overcoming against all the
odds.

I just turned the big 40. Fortunately there was no sign of black balloons or a wheelchair, or a cane or walker, or any of the things your well-meaning friends and relatives often do to hype the event.

What to do when you reach 50? Keep living. What to do when somebody asks what you're going to do when you reach 50? Ask them where they are hosting the party for you. =^.^= Everybody expects you to do something big, but nobody is willing to pay for it...

Go quiet...and be careful who you tell. We told a neighbor who told a friend who told a neighbor about my dad's 50th b-day, and it turned a nice family-and-friends dinner into a--well, 50th b-day celebration. With everything distasteful that entails lol. Personally, I would prefer the day you mentioned with a friend or two than parachuting or getting drunk :p

Yeah I am turning 50, sigh it’s such a burden looking like a kid. lol

People my age think I’m 30 so no encounters there. Whereas the 30 year olds
who do show any interest I have to tell them I’m old enough to be their mother!

Ps I have a full head of white hair, that’s why I go purple.

I think its a genetic thing, everyone in the family looks younger than their age.

On the downside no one ever helps me carry my bags or stands up for me on the bus.

It may also be why people still keep expecting me to get hitched and have 10 kids!

Hey you should have seen me in my 20’s. Long wavy hair and
still getting on the bus paying the school kid price!
