"Girls are all the same; it doesn't matter which one you marry. You're not getting any younger bro... just pick one and get it over with."

:)
That was actual advice.

Just pick one and get it over with.
That's pretty much the same way I pick a new rubbish bin.
It IS efficient... but it kind of lacks romance.

The difference being I NEED a trash can. Though many have tried to convince me I need a wife (for reasons I cannot ascertain) nobody has been successful. So I have all the time I need to be picky about finding a girl.

Responding to me saying "I've never been on a date"

"Of course not. You're confident and that's attractive to a lot of guys, but you need to loosen up a bit if you want to get dates. Have fun. Party. Get drunk. Find yourself a good contraceptive and see what kind of boys you like. You can't just dismiss someone because you don't like what they believe. Loosen up and have a good time. Find other common ground. You're not going to hold a guy if they think you're a straight-laced prude."

Needless to say...NO. I did not take their advice, and don't plan to. Ever.
I agree that whoever told you that gave horrible advice. You were wise to not even considering it.

i was never given this advice, but i'm sure we've all heard it:

if it's true love, then everything will be easy.
True love is never easy, relationship take a tremendous amount of work. I'm sure also that you know this full well. :)

Because then every time she wants hershey's bars she'll just start acting up.
Eww... if somebody tried to give me a h*rsh*y bar that would CAUSE me to start acting up. Couldn't we use something with a bit better flavor?

"A thing is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it." H*rsh*y actually has a NEGATIVE value for me - somebody would have to pay me to eat it.

Get married and everything will be all right!

Get children and your husband will love you forever.

Ignore him. If he does not reach out first, he is not worth it. Silent treatment is the worst advice ever. It is the no 1 relationship killer.
