There is a verse about "nocturnal emissions" in the OT. I think its in deuteronomy. It says if a young man has one he is supposed to bathe himself in a river and stay away from his camp until sundown.... But there is also a similar rule about women who have their period. They are supposed to do the same thing if I remember correctly.. (I'm too lazey to look it up )

....OK there was one in deuteronomy (23:10), but this one from Leviticus is the one I was referring to...

Leviticus 15:16
When a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his whole body with water, and he will be unclean until evening.

And here's the one about the woman and her period...

Leviticus 15:19
"'When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening.

I can't give you a specific verse on wet dreams, but I can give you plenty on the mind that is set on the flesh. Where the mind is there the heart will be also. We are called to be holy just as the Father is holy and I'm sure he doesn't have wet dreams.
But wet dreams are a biological function.
Maybe God doesn't drop a deuce either.

I have no advice, except don't sweat nothing.
Tommy has a point here. This is not under your control so don't let Satan put a guilt trip on you for it. Satan is whispering in you ear about sexual things trying to make you feel guilty about a biological function. So stop it! Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (Jas. 4:7).

He is mentioned multiple times eating and being hungry. All that food had to go... SOMEwhere.

What are you saying it is wrong? All that will accomplish is helping the devil put the guilt trip on him. It will soon go away if he just quits thinking about it. The sooner the better.

I think putting men on a guilt trip over this, clearly biological reaction, is wrong.

Saying wet dreams is an abomination to God is like saying a wife should pitch a fit whenever her husband had a wet dream, because the wet dream symbolized some sort of ill will. Who’d dare sleep under such circumstances?

I’d just cut on the washing machine and say nothing if my husband had a wet dream.

Just my opinion, but outside of extenuating circumstances if a married man is having nocturnal emissions there is something very wrong in their sex life.

Hi all.

I am really tentative about posting about this, but I am kind of desperate at this point.

So some history... I was addicted to pornography for 7 years until I was set free by God. It has been about 1 1/2 years since then. The problem now is that I average about 1-2 wet dreams per week. This is probably due to my 7 years of bondage and the fact that I am lifting weights now (thus creating more testosterone). I would sometimes even say that I feel like I got raped, although not quit as intense. I feel ashamed and disgusting after every time. I know that since I feel a deep remorse and can't really control it that I am still counted as righteous, but sometimes I do have inklings of doubt. Even if I am still in right standing with God, it doesn't fix the fact that after a dream such as these that I am more vulnerable to sexual images that may appear throughout the day (which are pretty much unavoidable in today's society). Even women dressed in skin-tight/revealing clothing can make me start to go down that path before I start feeling shame and force myself to look away. I have actually HALF-seriously considered the pros and cons of making myself go blind so I don't have to go through the endless temptations, which I am sure are contributing to my dreams. (Even though that sounds really serious I don't have any bad mental health problems; don't freak out) I would appreciate any sort of advice on how to overcome this.

Thanks a ton,
ColoradoMinesCole

If you close your eyes, I bet you can pull up the sexual images you have already seen. Please don't pluck out any eyes or chop off any limbs. I'll post a video of a guy who I believe has about as good a way as I've seen to overcome lust, or any other sin:

Unfortunately...a lot of marriages lack sex especially when married for a long time..men just find "other ways" to release sexual tension

And for the record here.... I am in no way against wet dreams.... I'd say more, but this tends to be a rather sticky subject..
