Hello, I'm a "newby" here and still learning my way around.

Please excuse my errors. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior many years ago but still have much to learn. My biggest issues right now are with the church which appears to be ungodly and largely irrelevant. Lately I have been reading and studying on my own, sometimes I just don't have the strength to go to "Church" with all that goes on there. I know the church is a human institution and is therefore fallible but my misgivings go beyond church politics and church intrigue.

All of us still have much to learn about the spiritual matters of God. As far as church is concerned some churches are more spiritually led than others, and yes, some are probably ungodly as well in some of the doctrine and practices. The church did not start out as a human institution but appears that is now true in a lot of aspects. I hope that you find this site to be spiritually edifying and have the opportunity to experience true Christian fellowship. Glad to have you as part of our family. Welcome to CC.

Welcome, I am sorry to find you on this situation. We all have a l it to learn. I think you will find people here that may have been through something like it. Read your bible, study it. Use any devotional material available and pray. Go to church looking to here GOD's word and take it and examine it wit your heart, your spirit check back in here often.

I study my bible "almost" every day and read both current and classic Christian works. (Trying not to allow my study and inquiry to create an academic relationship with Jesus has been a challenge). While it feels like I have been seeking God since childhood, it is clear He is the one seeking.

My experience with the modern church has been problematic, my relationship is love-Hate. Acknowledging the blessed accomplishments the church has made through history runs up against what is occurring now, especially in the western church. The American church appears destined to go the way of the European church. Every church I have encountered has based its vision on the last chapter of Matthew, none have referenced the last chapter of John.

Anyway, is there a Forum for Christian literature here? Recommendations joyfully encouraged.
