This is what believing in Christ means to me.
In Luke 10, the Lord speaks of a priest, a rabbi, and a Samaritan.
The first two who supposedly believed in God did not believe in loving their neighbor, while the Samaritan (a gentile, and supposed unbeliever), believed in loving his neighbor.

Faith as a work of God or labor of His love.It reveals to us that God works in us to both will and do his good pleasure .It is the gift given to unregenerate man (no faith) by which man can hear God not seen and believe to the salvation of his soul.
Roman 3 helps us to understand what if some did not believe God (no faith) would it make the work of the Spirit of Christ faith without effect. To effect something is to work. Faith without effecting substance as no life to offer.
For what if some did not believe (no faith) ? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.Roman 3:3-4
The opening commandment in James 2 informs us if we were to have the faith that comes from hearing god in respect to persons of DNA seen in the end of the matter verse 7 we would be blaspheming the holy name by which we are called heavenward.

Building precept upon precept...
1) What is faith?
Knowing something is truth without physical evidence for proof it's true. Key point is we can't see it but believe it. (Heb 11:1).
2) What was Christ sent to do?
Repair the relationship between Israel and Yah (prefigured in the Law's blood atonement rites) that none of the high priests before him could truly do because they were lawbreakers and had no pure human blood. (Heb 10:1-5).
3) Why is faith required in this?
Because the true temple - where the real version of these blood atonement rites were to be completed - is in heaven, and no man has been to heaven or can enter into heaven unless they're clean. It's the Most Holy place. So we can't see Christ performing these cleansing rites, we must simply know it's happening (Heb 9:23-24).
4) Is that all? Why else is faith required in Christ?
We've never met him in the flesh. Every high priest gives gifts to the people as representative of Yah (Heb 8:3), likewise Christ gives the gifts of grace and his own Spirit from heaven to teach and lead and empower Yah's people in godliness and obedience (Titus 2:12). So we have to first know that he IS before we can get these gifts, since we can't see him (Heb 11:6).

Evidence of our faith in Christ is when we do all that Christ said to do (James 2:14-26), not a mental ascension. Obedience to his words proves we believe (a) that he exists, (b) that he's atoned for our sin and (c) that he's given us the gifts necessary to cleanse our conscience and live like Christ in this fallen world

Faith in Christ is believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died and rose from the dead.
But Faith ONLY is not grants Salvation, as some people from this generation teach. Believing ONLY is not enough according to Scriptures, sure it is enough according to this last days generation, but is NOT enough according to the Word of God.
Heb_5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (NOT to those who disobey HIM)

Now people of this generation will be more than glad to tell you what His Commandments are, But let us go and see what the Apostle John plainly and clearly tells us what His Commandments are:

So according to the Word of God, those who Believe on Jesus Christ (Faith) AND Love One Another (Works) are they that will receive Eternal Life. Woe to any person who just has Works, but no Faith. Likewise woe to this generation who just has Faith and no works. Faith and Works go hand in hand. Believing and Loving One Another = His Commandments. Those who do one and NOT BOTH, are deceived and believe false doctrines which derived from the interpretations of humans.

Scriptures teaches that it is more than believing only. Scriptures teach that Eternal Life is to those who OBEY Him. Is that True or not True?
What Does Jesus COMMAND us to do? Love One Another. Woe to those who think believing ONLY is enough for eternal Salvation when Scriptures over and over again plainly and clearly teaches otherwise.

We must understand that God doesn't give victory to men, only to Christ; His victory becomes ours, as we are properly in Him (John 14:20; Romans 6:3-5).

All jokes aside, faith in Christ means exactly what Christ said in Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
So according to this passage, the first step is believer's baptism, followed by obedience of all the commandments of Christ.

Faith is believing in what you cannot see with the physical eye, and to believe in Jesus as Savior is to believe that He died and rose again without actually witnessing it like the disciples did for they seen Jesus after He rose from the dead.
Which the Bible testifies of the truth, which we believe is true, and God said He identifies Himself as the one true God by showing us the end from the beginning, the whole history of mankind, and every kingdom on earth until the beast kingdom where He puts down the wicked, which God said no other religion or person will be able to do that.
1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Co 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

We have to have faith, and believe that God does exist, and He is good towards us if we follow Him, and His kingdom does exist, and Jesus is God manifest in the flesh, and that He died according to His humanity and rose again in 3 days providing salvation for all who have faith and believe without actually seeing anything concerning that God does exist, and His kingdom, and Jesus rose from the dead.
But after we have faith and believe then the Spirit will reveal the spiritual kingdom, and the truth to us further strengthening our faith, but we still do not get to see physical evidence for we walk by faith and not by sight.
We cannot see God, but we have faith that He does exist, and we cannot see His kingdom, but we have faith it does exist, and we have not witnessed Jesus after He rose from the dead testifying He is the invisible God in a human manifestation, but we have faith it is true.
And that is faith.
Blessed is the person that has not seen Jesus but still believes.

When someone today says that they believe in someone; it is generally understood that they believe in that individuals perspectives, ideals, and actions.
The same applies to the three individuals in Luke 10, the first two did not believe in Christs perspectives, ideals and actions, while the Samaritan did. The Lord will tell the Samaritan and others like him who believed in loving their neighbor that He (Love) knows them, while the first two the Lord will tell that He (Love) never knew them, as they never knew love.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
The same applies to the three individuals in Luke 10, the first two did not believe in Christs perspectives, ideals and actions, while the Samaritan did. The Lord will tell the Samaritan and others like him who believed in loving their neighbor that He (Love) knows them, while the first two the Lord will tell that He (Love) never knew them, as they never knew love.

You can believe in an atonement while doing other than loving your neighbor, or you can believe in an atonement for your prior actions while realizing a new perspective as indicated in scriptures in loving your neighbor.
If you believe in the first perspective, however, where you do not love your neighbor, then you will be among those whom the Lord will declare to, Him (Love) never having known them.
