To whomever reads this and is currently feeling some type of negative feelings regarding singleness:

If you're truly feeling angry, depressed, lonely, and just all types of negative feelings because you're single and God hasn't given you your ever so coveted, then you don't need to be in a relationship and you really don't need to be married. Why? Because being in a relationship is not about you and marriage is not for you. You know, the opposite of love was never hate in the first place. Selfish is the exact opposite of love because love gives but selfishness takes. Why do you think God calls love "charity"? When you think charity, you think giving. Jesus said in Acts 20:35 that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Just take a look at Ezekiel 16 when God was talking about Jerusalem.

Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord God unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.
5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.
6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.
7 I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare.
8 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord God, and thou becamest mine.
9 Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.
10 I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk.
11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head.
13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.
14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God.

The symbolic message about Jerusalem can be applied to us. We Christians are hated and get looked down upon. No one cares for us and like babies cry for attention, well so do we. We may not think no one hears our cries of loneliness and pain but God does. He's the only one who looks upon us with such great incomprehensible love that the world can't give nor us humans can't give. With His help we can live and have fruitful lives. He will wash away the blood (sin) that besets us and clothe us with clothes and ornaments of righteousness, grace, and salvation that will cover our nakedness (shame). He will keep us and provide for us like He did for Jerusalem because her time was a time of love. At that time, she was being fruitful because she did as God commanded. Through God's comeliness are we made beautiful in His sight. God always keeps His promises and He'll love us the same but why can't you do that for Him? You see what I'm saying here? He GAVE you things. You, you WANT and cry to God about how you just can't function without another human with you. Don't treat God's love like some consolation prize. God loves you more than any human on this Earth can love you. You're coveting after a significant other so much, that you're basically an idolator because your affections are not set on what's above. You set your affections on such worldly things that you don't focus on God like you're supposed to. If you're truly going to love like God loves, then learn to give. Seek God first and always and He'll lead and comfort you. You also need to read 1 Corinthians 7:25-40.

25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.
29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;
31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.
32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
36 But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.
38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.
39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

It's a clear message. We singles must be devoted to God always. If He wants you married, then He'll bless you with your significant other but until then, enjoy your alone time with God while you have it. When you're married, you don't really have as much free time as you used to especially if you have kids.

Hope this was encouraging and not demeaning. I, too, am single but I'm the happiest as I can be because God is my main focus.

God bless whoever read this. 😊

Hello and welcome!

Thanks for the encouraging words. :)

I'm curious about something in your post, and noted that you quote the KJV, but we who frequent the Singles forum try to avoid contentious issues, preferring to leave them to the BDF. Perhaps it will come up there sometime.

Hello and thanks for the welcome. 🤗

I'm glad you liked the message. 😁

Ah, something has caught your attention. May I know what it is? 😃

Yeah, I like the KJV and believe it's a good word for word translation. I don't use it like I used to because God blessed me with a KJVER. It's like a complete red letter edition modern KJV. I love it. I just didn't bother quoting from it because that would've took extra time to edit out the old archaic words and capitalize the pronouns referring to His Deity. 😅

Sorry. I truly do mean no harm. I would erase it if I could but I can't. I just didn't think this post was meant for a serious discussion in the BDF. My bad. Thanks for letting me know. 😊

No worries at all. :) Many people use the KJV around here. I'm familiar enough with it and my question was off topic anyway.

Ah, well that's cool. I didn't think it was that well used anymore to be honest. Ohh, well you can still ask me if you want. :giggle:
