Anyone think the ensuing catastrophes in the Middle East, where people are being killed by sword in Syria, and are dying of hunger in Yemen at the hands of Saudi Arabia, who is backed by the U.S., represents the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse death, with Hell following at his heels? (Revelation 6:8)

Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Hi, Yes this is a certain inhumane tragedy that is going on over there. I wish it could be broadcast on screens all over the world so people would b forced to see the injustices going on. The Bible does say in the latter days there will b wars, and all those other horrible signs. People will answer some day who are responsible for these ungodly deeds and it won't b pretty. See video '23 minutes in hell' Bill Weise, that's truly scary.

Not really, one could say that about WWII, no doubt many in those times thought that as well. Or the ottomen empire rant across Europe.

Well I suppose I can't simply discount such a thought I mean it does fit but at the same time I have my doubts. When death is spoken of in revelation it's spoken of as if it's the entity itself causing all of it which would imply that it's not merely human cruelty. Also as a horseman of the apocalypse it wouldn't just be in a general area of the world it would be world wide. The apocalypse has yet to really begin we are in the calm before the storm. When the tribulation actually ensues there will be no question about it because it's going to be a time so horrific and so terrifying that no horror movie or time in the past can even begin to compare.

I think most would agree that Revelation 6 is in regards to the earth during the end times of the present age.
As such, and being in the end times of the present age; the 1/4 of the world the fourth horseman, death kills its citizens through sword, famine, plague, and beasts/hard criminals, would have to represent some 1/4 of the earth today.
The happenings in the Middle East with sword in Syria, famine and pestilence in Yemen, appear the best candidate for the fourth horseman.

My vote would be resounding "NO!" And the reason why, is because we would have had to have seen the 1st seal opened which is representing the antichrist who has yet to be revealed. The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments will take place in the chronological order that they appear in Revelation, with some overlapping such as the 7th trumpet/3rd woe where Satan and his angels will be cast out of heaven and restricted to the earth.

Though any wars are terrible, when the 2nd seal/Red Horse is opened, he is given power to take peace from the earth so that men kill each other. The reference to him being given a large sword is inferring that the peace being taken from the earth and men killing each other is world-wide, a large campaign. It will make the previous skirmishes and wars seem like nothing.

The other answer is that, the culmination of seals 2 thru 4 will result in a fourth of the earths population being killed, which based on todays world population, would be well over 1.7 billion people killed within a 3 1/2 year period. Needless to say, we have not yet seen anything on this scale.

I believe that one of the biggest problems with expositors, is that they do not understand the severity and magnitude of God's coming wrath via the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments. It is usually those people who believe and teach that the Lord is going to allow His church to go through and protect her in the midst of it. They have no idea of what is coming!

There is another area in the Word where death and hell appear.
In Isaiah 28:18 the land of Israel appears in league with death and hell, of which the Lord states that the covenant made with death will be disannulled, and the agreement with hell will not stand.
As the land of Israel is in the Middle East, it gives further weight to the fourth horseman death representing the Middle East.

Isaiah 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

I would have to disagree, there is a difference between being in the end times and being in the tribulation. When Jesus rose from the grave and pentacost happened that was when the end times began but the tribulation is spoken of as a time this world has never seen and some people even think we are in the tribulation but they have no idea how severe it is going to be or the horrors that will be faced.

So while it does resemble the fourth horseman I would honestly have to say it probably isn't

The seals, trumpets and bowl judgments will affect infect the entire earth and not just the middle east. They are meant to carry out God's wrath on a Christ rejecting world, the arrogant, the prideful, the sexually immoral and all who willfully live according to the sinful nature.

To answer OP: I think NO.

Because the first seal is imo the antichrist being unleashed. Some interpret it to be Jesus but why would the Lamb (Jesus) release Himself?

So logically, since the antichrist isnt here yet... those other seals arent either.

But as ive said in other threads I believe the MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE fish-deaths and sinkholes and tornadoes and earthquakes and pestilences etc are all related to the end times.
Kind of like a "prelude" to the actual seals trumpets and vials.

@Ahwatukee have you watched those on youtube? What do you think about them?

If we are to assess who the best candidates for the four horsemen of the apocalypse represent, we then need to look at the criteria for each and see which world government/s best meet the criteria.
The first horseman is given authority by God to go about conquering and to conquer others.
What nation or group of nations today is going about conquering others?

Revelation 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

When I refer to the end times, I am referring to the end of the age, before the new age when the Lord commences to reign on the earth (Revelation 11:15). This end of the present age under Satan comes at the end of the beasts 42 months.

Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

I also see the four horsemen of the apocalypse representing the entire earth; the four leading socio economic systems on earth.

I've seen some of them, not on YouTube, but on the weather channel and other programs like "Planet Earth." As far as tornados, sink holes and such, I believe that these are just natural events. However, I believe that the increase of earthquakes would qualify, for Revelation mentions many earthquakes, including the worst quake to hit the earth since man has been here which is one of the results of the 7th bowl judgment. Because of this quake, the mountains and the islands will not be found and the cities of the nations will collapse, which would infer that the quake will affect the entire earth.

Good evening Luigi,

I have always believed that the first seal rider is representing the antichrist. He is a counterfeit of the rider on the white horse in Rev.19:11 which is the Lord Jesus. When comparing the two riders, it quickly becomes obvious that they are not the same riders on white horses: Here is an excerpt from a comparison that I did on both riders:

Rider on the White Horse of Rev.6:1-2:

· Holds a bow

· Was given a crown

· Rides out as a conqueror bent on conquest

Rider on the White Horse of Rev.19:11-21:

· Rider is called Faithful and True

· With justice He judges and makes war

· His eyes are like blazing fire

· On his head are many crowns

· Has a name written on him that no one knows but He himself

· Is dressed in a robe dipped in blood

· His name is the Word of God

· Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations

· He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty

· On his robe and on his thigh the name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS

The other horses and their riders represent events that are going to take place, such as peace being taken from the earth so that men kill each other (nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom), with the black horse and his rider representing wide-spread famine. The 4th rider being death and mentioning Hades, I believe are personified. For both death and Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire at the great white throne judgment.
