New Wine Into Old Wine Skin,

That was the response by Jesus to His critics who were
testing Him. So what does that mean? Is Jesus going
into the wine business and garment business. Of course
not. They were challenging Him on old traditions that He
and the apostles weren't observing. So Jesus answered
that way that the old laws and traditions were out of date.
And He, Jesus will be the new law. And once the law is
establish, the old must be abolished. It is also ushering
in a new covenant. The time will come when there will
be only two commandments and those two will be love
the Lord your God with all your heart and your neighbor
as yourself. In these 2 commandments, all law becomes
fulfilled. I've often been asked, how can that be, do we
now not follow the ten commandments. Of course not.
In fact Jesus made them even stronger. But it does mean
that when you love as is outlined in most of the teaching
by Jesus that every commandment is taken care of.

Many say that since we are living in grace andunder mercy, and we are, tht we obey the laws in sprit, and this report is true, yet the laws are still here to obey. I do not speak of the 6183 laws concerning the temple, the state of Israel, the Levitical Priests, tthe sacrificial laws, the ceremonial laws of cleansing, etc. No I speak not of the majority of them, hoever it is taught by Jesus Christ tht all the law hangs on the two great laws of love.

I would go so far as to say if we obey the greatest of the two, loving God with all our heart, soul and understanding would suffice for fulfilling all the law for the others would follow foral the law hangs on the two laws of love. All the law, which means those remaining which Jesus teaches us never to teach against, not even th eleast of them

We are free of the curse of the law, that is its power, death, so we are never under the law, but this is no excuse to say we may kill, disrespect God, disrespect parents, etc...….We do not cov et, we do not move a landmark of a neighbor in order to increase our holding......all of these laws as the new person we we obey……..however we do still sin when we err, though the guilt of our transgressions s is not held agaisnt us.

Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets, and He did, but He did not destroy the law in fulfilling it by freeing us of its power, curse ...death…….

Since the old covenant has been made obsolete, does this leave us with no moral direction? Absolutely not. God made obsolete the old covenant to "put legally into place" the new covenant (2 Corinthians 3:6-9; Hebrews 8:6-13). The life of discipleship flows out of the new command, to love one another as He loved us (John 13:34), which Paul refers to as the "law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). Love fulfills the law (Romans 13:8-10). Out of the two great commandments comes other commands, including references for the moral aspect of 9 of the 10 commandments which are reiterated in the New Testament, yet the command to keep the Sabbath day is not binding on Christians in the New Testament.

1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - Acts 14:15
2. You shall make no idols. - 1 John 5:21
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. - James 5:12
4. Keep the Sabbath day holy. - Not binding on the Church - Colossians 2:16-17
5. Honor your father and your mother. - Ephesians 6:1-2
6. You shall not murder. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 John 3:15
7. You shall not commit adultery. - Romans 13:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
8. You shall not steal. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 4:28
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. - Romans 13:9-10; Colossians 3:9-10
10. You shall not covet. - Romans 13:9-10; Ephesians 5:3

"He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant — not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills...the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone...the ministry that condemns" (2 Corinthians 3:6-9).

The law on our heart and mind is the love of the Spirit, not the law of the letter. This is why Paul tells us that the new covenant is a covenant of the Spirit, and not of the letter.

"No one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins." (Luke 5:37-38).
