It seems that every so often, someone here decides to instruct us on the "Original Intent" of the Founding Fathers, and how much of the Bible (God's Laws) played in their shaping/establishing of our Nation. And, most often they are wrong, for they immediately try to state that the Founding Fathers DID NOT want Church and State combined. They try to justify Separation of Church and State Liberal baloney.

The truth is that the Founding Fathers ONLY wanted to create the Establishment Clause in the Constitution.......never will one find the language "Separation of Church and State" in the Constitution. The Founding Fathers wanted to make sure that the STATE COULD NOT establish ONE Religion/Church...............they NEVER intended for those serving in Government to not lean on their Faith/Beliefs when making decisions/Laws. Never!

The PROOF is in the PUDDING.........as they say.........

The Bible and Government - Faith Facts

To understand why some of these passages above are applicable to our laws, one has to go back to the formative era of our nation and to America's culture and thinking at the time. The leaders of the various colonies, states, and ultimately the Founding Fathers themselves were steeped in biblical thinking. They drew from the Bible examples and looked for confirmation of ideas for government in Scripture.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT.................AND SOME NEED TO REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH OF A ROLE GOD PLAYED IN THE FOUNDING OF OUR NATION.

My Constitution is the Word, always will be.

EXCERPT:

Freedom of religion.
The Founders created laws that protect each individual citizen’s freedom to worship whichever god or god(s) he or she sees fit, or to not worship or follow any religion at all. The Bible also gives every individual the freedom to believe according to his or her own conscience. All are invited to believe in Jesus, but none are forced to believe or worship Him even once you believe. The Bible gives us all a free will and allows us the choice to believe or not believe. To worship and follow Him or not.

Daily, frame me more and more in the likeness of Thy son, Jesus Christ, that living in Thy fear, and dying in Thy favor, I may in thy appointed time obtain the resurrection of the justified unto eternal life. George Washington exercised his freedom of speech, something that is being eaten away it seems today.

The idea and legislation of freedom of speech is to guarantee no one ever again to be oppressed because of his or her faith, or even lack of faith.

Whether some like it or not, the US is not and never was a theocraqcy, not a true theocracy for that was the original Israel, and it failed although it did las some time.

Let us not bring down our faith and understanding of the Word to the level of men, for men are but reatures of the Creator and our kFather's ways are not the ways of men, nor is His mind the mind of men…...

PS...I am totally for the Freedom of Religion as it isin the Constitution for it sets up a society where the lost may seek and be found. It would be a crying shame if the nation were set up with one religion's denomination. We would all be Puritans.

Here in Spain, many folks believe Spain is th center of Biblical writings, much like the US

According to many here, they are the "believers," whie any outside of Spain, unless they are Catholic, are yet pagans.

This is true in many, if not all of the countries I have visited or lived in. The United States has b¡ proven to be no different in recent decades.

I am glad my politics rests on the Kingdom of God with Jesus Christ my King and Eternal Sovereign. Praise God, do His Word, and learn to welcome all who truly call upon Him, amen...

Do you think it could be possible some of us are only relating what we learn from God and His Word? This is not a platform to prove or disprove governments. Were this the case we would need discuss all governments, and there is only one with which we should be concerned..........the KIngd om of Yahweh, God...

John Adams

SIGNER OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE; JUDGE; DIPLOMAT; ONE OF TWO SIGNERS
OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS; SECOND PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.1

Without religion, this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite company: I mean hell.2

The Christian religion is, above all the religions that ever prevailed or existed in ancient or modern times, the religion of wisdom, virtue, equity and humanity.3

Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only law book and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited. . . . What a Eutopia – what a Paradise would this region be!4

I am not an American but as far as i know the separation of church and state was about stopping a church ( denomination ) becoming the denomination of the state which would then use that power to enforce the rule of it's denomination over all people and thus persecute other denominations and anyone who followed another church....

It was never about removing the concept of God and religious beliefs from the USA..

Most of the population of the USA had come from Europe and therefore knew the evil that had happened because of the evil acts of persecution of the catholic church which was the church of state of most European nations for over 1000 years.. They did not want any church attaining that level of worldly power in the USA.. The Laws where about freedom to follow a religion without having a church of state persecuting one for doing so.. It was not about freedom from religion and establishing the state as the institution to inflict persecution upon religious people..

Correct. But ........... separation of church and state ......... WAS NEVER part of the Language of the Constitution.

It was the Establishment Clause that the Founding Fathers came up with to protect the rights of freedom of religion from STATE MANDATED religion.

Yes, we came out of Europe where state religions were mandated and people sentenced to death for not complying. That is what the forefathers were trying to inhibit. This country comprised originally Christians fleeing from persecution in Europe. When the Protestant established Lutheranism in Germany the princes decided for the people on how to worship.

All that wasn't going to fly over here. So, they had to separate government from religion. How all that works is still being played out. I don't believe it will be workable long term. What to do about is anybody's guess. I will say we based our Constitution loosely on the English Magna Carta of 1215. That gave the common man rights that we wanted to maintain. I looked up the Wikipedia reference to the Magna Carta looking for what it was based on. I remember from school that is was loosely based on the Code of Hammurabi. Wikipedia made no such mention about that. Maybe I'll research that for an update in Wikipedia.
