Quiet roads traveled.

Just look even at His example…

"The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
Zephaniah 3:17 NASB

Now let me show you what I found when seeking guidance and help in areas of stillness…

Look at all these…

'Fear not, O Jacob My servant,' declares the Lord , 'And do not be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar And your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease, And no one will make him afraid.
Jeremiah 30:10 NASB

Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Psalms 4:4 NASB

And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
Mark 4:39 NASB

"But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him."
Habakkuk 2:20 NASB

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"
Mark 1:25 NASB

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"
Mark 1:25 NASB

"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Psalms 46:10 NASB

You caused judgment to be heard from heaven; The earth feared and was still
Psalms 76:8 NASB

and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,
1 Thessalonians 4:11 NASB

The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent."
Exodus 14:14 NASB

And on and on and on…

Are you a fixer, are you a thinker, are you a ppl pleaser, are you a worrier, are you a whatever…

We may never be able to fix circumstances, change opinions, or for that matter even know what is exactly the problem is that needs fixing, we won't ever have all the answers. I will tell you this, though, we have options. We don't need to know, to grow.

How comforting is that?

Are we His bond-servant (one choosing to serve), or are we not? Are we willing to submit to what He says, or not?

He tells us, to shhhhhh, to rest in Him, to use our time focusing on and serving Him. Every loud thought, drowning out the peace He gives doesn't need our attention. Reassuring love to ease the wounds is also not the answer, that is a temporary solution to the symptom, not to the problem.

Come on, do we want to be strong in Him, to not be tossed about in the ponderings of our minds, regardless the circumstances? When it comes down to what we are made of, it shouldn't be our upbringing, our family and friends, our perceptions, our jobs, our reputation, not even our own self esteem. What we are made up of, that has value, is God!!!

Our steady hearts and minds for Him requires stillness, quietness, and resting in only Him, just as He has always said.

Here's to listening to Him...:D

That verse says that "He will rest in His love" (KJB and a few others). That is NOT the same as being simply quiet.

*I prefer explaining it of that calm silent joy in the possession of the object of one's love, too great for words to express: just as God after the six days of creation rested with silent satisfaction in His work, for "behold it was very good" ( Genesis 1:31 , 2:2 ). So the parallel clause by contrast expresses the joy, not kept silent as this, but uttered in "singing."* (Jamiesson, Fausset, and Brown Commentary).

Oh Nehemiah, brother. calm silent joy in the possession of the object of one's love...

wow, that takes it to another level, takes the silence, the stillness, to powerful action of transformation.

Thanks, I am on this personal quest, my brother, of knowing what He wants from me as a woman. Of course, I am to be humble, still and quiet, while serving and loving others, but doing so for His Glory, not mine. I tend to allow the loud opposing thoughts to steal my joy. So I am learning to be quiet my thoughts. But maybe the quietness doesn't come from just hushing, but in the trusting with calm quiet Joy.
