Was thinking on this why saint nick kept his identity secret when he was giving gifts to the poor children...because of this Jesus said to take care you dont do your alms before men.

matthew 6:1

This principle of giving anonymously is so people will glorify God not yourself. I just wondered if that means its best not to tell people youve given them something, i.e dont make a big show of it. I have learned that its wise not to tell people you going to give them something because then they could refuse or throw the gift back in your face. Or conversely, they will feel obligated to give back ...what are your thoughts and experiences on this?

Also many times when Jesus was offering the gift of salvation, and miracles he would tell his disciples not to tell people it was him as he wanted his Father glorified, lest people think he was this bigshot or it was all done by man. Or something like that.

My local newspaper had a large photo on the cover this week showing some realtor handing over $2000 to the food bank staff.

I don't recall seeing that realtor helping at the food drive in October. Perhaps not enough cameras.

It is like my friend that said Oprah Winfrey cares about people for she will stop and hand over money to a person on the street, but I said, what about the person on the other side of the street, for I read she was worth 2.9 billion dollars, but people that love people are not millionaires, or billionaires, for their own personal interest.

They do things to get a pat on the back, and recognition for themselves, but they truly do not care about people as the money they have for personal interest testifies against them, which they want that money to exalt themselves.

They want to exalt themselves as a person that cares about people, but then exalt themselves with their money also, which testifies against them that they care.

The world is motivated by self exaltation, and that is how they will operate, and who are they trying to fool.

It reminds me of the widows mite and Jesus comparing it to the wealthy mean throwing their money into the temple, and probably announcing how much they gave and how generous they were but the widow just quietly gave all she had...
