Luke 9:23-24 And He said to them , if any man will comecome after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross dairly, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, but whosoever will lose his life for my sake , the same shall save it. The message is clear I dont need to elaborate . Lets break our fleshly habits and follow him . He has deny/left behind everything for our sakes its fair enough if we do the same .

I do not know your definition of "deny himself" is, but I believe it is to give up on our ability to save ourselves. God says that our sacrifice should be a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart.

first understand that you are a new creation now that you are in Christ, the old is gone once you have understand and accepted that you are a new creation then develop a personal relationship with God by reading the bible, praying, worshiping and praising Him, thanks giving, while doing this the fruits of the spirit will start to grow in you and when you have the fruit of the spirit the fruit of the gone is gone and once the fruit of the flesh is gone you will crave more for His will .

All that you have said is also part of denying ourselves , just to add to deny ourselves also means to give up or to break off our habits that are far from what God has call us to be. Meaning we should cut off every negative habits that do not align with God's will and not only negative habits but also what keeps you away from spending time with Christ. The value of sacrifice is to give up what will hurt once you give it up.

Forgive my posting without saying, it has nothing todo with what you posted. It is simplyd a reference to the Epistles. I know nothing is alway s just one way…….especially with our Father….He can say things that mean so many different things yet they all come out to onetruth….that's our Father, amen.

John the Baptist is a great example of this, even though he was the front runner for Jesus, and never actually heard Jesus give this specific command. John said, John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

27John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

28Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

29He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

30He must increase, but I must decrease.
