All too many who believe are coming into the forums citing specific sins which they will not tolerate, yet all sins are forgiven except possibly the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit, and the Gospels do say it is possible, not a sure thing.....so let's forgive, share and bring to Jesus, Yeshua.

Accused of a serious crime, is a loaded statement in and of itself. Who accused and was the accusations associated with the church?
Is he guilty? Do they have reason to believe is is as accused?
Is there proper cause to put this guy out of the church? It is possible you know. The Bible gives directive about a professing Christian who is in open overt unrepentant sin.
Is this the case with this guy? I don't know, so it's impossible for me or anyone else to say.

Joseph was also falsely accused by Potiphars wife and landed in prison. You may want to read his story, plus his own family ...all his brothers had forsaken him.

Chester, to state publicly what I wrote to you privately - I am not that "Christian young man". The fellow in question is a parishioner in another state who is ministered to by the son of a former pastor of mine. I was made aware of this situation via a phone call and he has been a burden to me ever since. I just wanted to get some other views as opposed to relying on my own; some "wise counsel" if you will.

I can tell ya this. How can anyone give good and sound biblical advice concerning "the particulars", of your situation, given that you alone, are privvy to "the deed?"

Fr'instance: Was he "busted" for:
Beating his wife? Kids?
Rape?
A crime of passion?
Stealing a car?
Drunk driving?
Selling, or using drugs?
Armed robbery?
Murder?

ALL these are pretty serious crimes!
Leaving out to much dude!
What's his "track record?
Has he been warned by the church he goes to concerning this?

Must be pretty seriuos! Unless the church he attends are a bunch of socio-economic hypocrits! That cannot bare to have such a criminal in their midst! In which case, I'd tell him, he's better off without that particular "assemblage of believers!"

If hes imprisoned for simply preaching Jesus or making a stand for the Lord then yes we ought to pray for his release. But you know in prison thats where they need the gospel most.

How is the young man in your OP now "a burden to [you]"?

The OP indicates he "was accused of a rather serious crime and jailed pending trial"

What is the status of his criminal case? You submitted the OP a little more than a week ago. Has there been preliminary hearing yet? Was he held over?

Again, point him to Scripture wherein believers felt themselves to be abandoned and when they turned their hearts to the Lord, they found the peace that passes all understanding.

Lanolin brought up Joseph ... tell the young man to read beginning in Genesis 37. Joseph was an amazing believer in the face of adversity he faced through betrayal of others.
