So to spill my guts a little, I got married very young and at that time I left the church and wanted to do my own thing and fell in love. It was great for many years and built a life and had 3 wonderful children. The marriage started to decline and communication wasn’t there and we did not share the same values. Long story short we had to get a divorce and through it I came back to the church albeit heartbroken, that’s where God does his best work! So now I understand what the Bible says about why we should be equally yoked. Just wondering if anyone experienced something similar, I’d love to hear your thoughts or comments, God Bless all of you!

Yeah, I get what you're saying. My first marriage was a total disaster. Before getting married I was an avid church goer and said my prayers. My X had no use for spiritual matters and would not attend church with me as she saw no value in it. After awhile, I stopped going. Stopped saying my prayers too.

Being equally yoked should be our #1 thing to look for out of 1000 haha kidding on the 1000, kinda ;). So important to be an encouragement to each other spiritually.

I've always felt like even believers can be 'unequally yoked".

Just because someone says they believe in Jesus, or follows Him, doesn't mean they actually do.
Or maybe they do, but they're in a different place than you regarding your convictions, commitments, ministries, purity etc.

Hey, I was meaning to comment on this, but yes agree with most of what’s already been said here, that it’s important to be equally yoked - but not so much between eachother as compitable matches (between man and woman) but moreso equally yoked in Christ our Saviour.

When we put Christ in the centre of our life and submit to Him, I believe that this transcends into our lifestyle as a Christian in this corrupted world. Being able to be equally yoked with others in Christ absolutely makes ones walk alot easier to carry, like what scripture says:

Ecclesiates 4:9-10
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
