I think Garee in in an invisible world of his own. Dare anyone mention a visible, apparent manifestation of the HS and he will swarm down on it like a chicken hawk. I gave up trying to read his ramblings some time ago. :)

So true.

...Thus, saving faith is based not merely on correct theological “talk” or expressed doctrinal beliefs, but on the question of whether believers have actually had this life-changing experience of the Spirit’s power...
We, protestants in general, think that the more we study the Bible the closer we become to God. The Good Samaritan (whose religion was wrong) was approved by Jesus, whereas the priest and the Levite (who were theologically correct) were not.

Once again, you seem to be taking a grain of what I wrote and making a trilogy from it.

I didn't say anything about 'who we turn to"; that's your addition.

Nor did I say anything about easing or comforting ourselves; that too is your addition.

I certainly didn't suggest that God "repents for comfort"; that's your addition.

There is no such person as "Nicole of the Nicolaitans" mentioned in Scripture; once again, that's your addition. The problem is that it is an addition to Scripture. You recently quoted the section where we are warned not to add to Scripture, yet here you are doing so. Why is that?

The Nicolaitans is what is called a demonym is a word that identifies residents or natives of a particular place, which is derived from the name or founder of that particular place . Nicole I believe was simply the leader of that church or denomination and people were following him and not their first love the hearing of the word of God. Doing the first works in order to repent is to believe God rather than man .

Philippians, a word that mean residents of that city name after its founder, Philip. Or Christian a word with no other meaning added residents of the city of Christ the New Jerusalem, as the bride of Christ name after its founder. .

What do you thing was the name of the leader of the Nicolaitans if not Nicole? Not that it makes any difference seeing its the context that we are looking at in respect to repentance as work God performs in us, not of us unless any man boast in false pride. .I got myself filled with the Spirit after I repented..?

the above scripture has absolutely NOTHING to do with my post

uh...

just no

no

I would be more than content if you never thought you had to respond to any post I write

you have some bizarre interpretation regarding prophecy and tongues and a desire to tell everyone there is no such thing that matches it

I never address your posts and am only doing so now because of what you wrote concerning my post

this:

as a response to my basically saying how appreciative I am of God's Spirit and His gift to believers, is disrespectful to myself and shows contempt for scripture
No disrespect meant personally.

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, the things of this world seen as the natural course of this world. And neither are we supported by a sign that we would follow after, in the end turning things upside down as did the unbelieving, no faith, Jew. Used as a metaphor to represent unbelief of any nation.

The law of signs, a sign of rebellion (unbelief) in 1 Corinthians 14 is clear . And yet for all the work of God making it clear some still do not beleive who the sign is directed at and what it confirms. " and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord."

There is no such thing as a "sign gift". Spiritual gift as unseen yes, sign gift no.. We walk by faith the unseen our understanding comes by comparing the temporal in order to give us the spiritual; understanding .The gospel hid. We compare the spiritual thoughts of God to the spiritual not the literal to the literal. The literal man without the spirit has no understanding. It is hid. A person must be born again

The sign of tongues points towards those who believe not the word of God, as a sign to the whole world .The reformation has come. The use of the nation of Jews to represent believe (faith) as well as unbelief .Those who from their own mouth create the oral traditions of men the bible alone is to boring and does not provide enough drama for the sign and lying wonder seekers. .

Your very insightful.

That person believes and teaches the heresy of OSAS.

One thing I have noticed. It would seem to be the goal of "sign seekers" to destroy the doctrine of God (OSAS) .

Its like they say; "We will do what is required as a sign that proves we are filled with the Holy Spirit". Just keep your eyes open the show will begin filled with many wonderful works . I would offer it seems like a three ring circus making Jesus a circus seal.

John 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, "that we may see", and believe thee? what dost thou work?

The word "many" or "as many" interferes with their idea to the kind of all that is spoken of. All that the father gives they alone can come. They alone will he not cast out.

To make "as many" as the father gave to the son as the ones that can come because the father is drawing them and not them drawing the father to no effect as did the apostate Jews who turned things upside down .

Do you have eternal life or is it on hold?.

Christ must do the first works and he promises if he has begun it he will finish it to the end .(Philippians 1:6 )The receiving of our new incorruptible bodies

That's the difficulty with those murmurers of others who they might feel do not deserve the grace of God.

The idea that it is Christ who dwells in every believer working in them with them to both will and do his good pleasure. (imputed righteousness) It would seem to be ignored. It would seem those who insist in offering their good works take out their jealously on a brother or sister who might not have the exact same blessing. This is seeing it is God who does make us differ on from alone another.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Matthew 20:28Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

OSAS is a doctrine of demons, and certainly is not of God.

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

When I was saved I experienced the holy spirit first hand my body was suddenly filled with life not energy but actual life itself kind of like that feeling of taking a breath after holding your breath under water for so long at least that is the best way i can describe it honestly there are no words to really explain it. I was also at the same time consumed by a blazing fire inside me and all around me his power and fire surged through me like electricity.

The change was undeniable I felt so free and clean but I know some Christians who know the bible like the back of their hands and pray constantly and have been teaching and serving for years but even with all of this there seems to be something missing. Now as far as if people like this are really saved or not it is not my place to say but the light of a changed heart is very easy to see because sadly we live in a world where his light is not very common even among the Christian community. Even on here have you ever spoken to someone who just through what they say on a day to day basis seem to radiate a rare quality? His love and his spirit is easy to notice because it infects people it makes a spark and shows a rare kind of light through his children.

All the correct doctrine and tactics even the most biblical adept cannot begin to compare to how the fire of the holy spirit stirs the heart of others.
Those people that have something missing need to actually take a breath or have some holy spirit CPR. Otherwise they are just in danger of having a heart attack. From over work. Let God breathe through you.

Perhpss theyve enever sat still enought to experience Gods presence. We must be like Mary and not go running around like Martha all the time. Nobody can ever take away what Mary received.

But “miracles” are expected as corroborating evidence that believers have truly received the Holy Spirit:
The life-changing experience is indeed a miracle but if you are suggesting that those who receive the Holy Spirit all become miracle workers, then that is false. The transformation of a sinner into a saint is what God wants to see.

There was a very good reason for the signs, wonders, and miracles of the Apostolic Age. The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ was to be demonstrated as having a divine origin, therefore the apostles and their companions were given *the sign gifts*. Once the Bible was complete, the power of the Gospel itself was sufficient. Too many Christians do not really believe in the power of the Gospel, but that is God's ordained instrument to bring about the miracle of the New Birth.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Rom 1:16)

ROMANS 10
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (1 Pet 1:23-25)

Scripture doesn't identify the leader, founder, or starting locality of the Nicolaitans, so "Nicole" (or any thing similar) is just an invention.

The word "Nicolaitans" occurs only twice in Scripture, and the only evidence we have about them is that they held doctrines that Jesus hated. Any claim beyond that is also an invention. Unless you have evidence from outside of Scripture, you can't make a defensible argument regarding the exact nature of their beliefs or the identity of their founder.

By the way, "Christian" was originally a derogatory term meaning "little Christ". Its origin has nothing to do with the New Jerusalem.

None of this has anything to do with repentance.
