Scripture based on our understanding of it.....

I stole this from another persons response in another post. That was such a great statement!

Is it or is it based on what G-d said?

Now I grew up in Christianity believing the Scripture there is nothing new under the sun/Son... So when I believed I got a revelation from G-d I would/ will check the commentaries to see if it has been reviled before... my favorite is Mathew Hennery... I am in love with that man has been dead for over 400 years...lol...

Do you check what you think is true about the Scripture? Who do you like to check? Any favorites like hennery or Spurgeon?....

Are you asking for favorite Scripture, or Reference Source?

Regarding Sources: I like Henry as well as Gill and a few others.........but, my Bible has (in the margins) Scripture references that correspond/justify the Scripture I'm reading at the time, and they are truly the best Source in my opinion.

I just check with the original author of all truth.
Don't need another man's opinions. I got plenty of those myself I have to deal with.

...
Revealed: uncovered, made known, demonstrated
Reviled: despised, hated, mocked

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.... :)

I understand your thoughts here, and, to an extent I agree, as you will see in the last part of my comment, However, it is also worth noting that Preaching and Teaching are Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and to listen and learn from those who have been anointed by God to preach and teach is surely acceptable to all believers, is it not?

Acts 18:26) And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

Hmm not sure what you mean.

I dont have commentaries in my bible although when go online to biblehub they often have the matthew henry commentary. When I was new I often checked the got questions bible site. I had a bible dictionary too but gave it away.
But the more I read the Bible the more God gave me understanding. You can ask for the spirit of wisdom and understanding.

God will then give you scriptures for whatever you ask and bring them to mind.
I think some bibles have cross reference scriptures in the margins but mine doesnt even have that. Its just scripture, with just chapter headings up the top.
I found bibles with extra study notes, footnotes and commentaries all in them distracted me.

I read a lot of christian literature on the side though but I dont use them as reference, many are testimonies or about the saints whove gone before and what they experienced, evangelists, missionaries etc. a diverse bunch. a w tozer was one and i remember reading oswald chambers had a devotional that was quite profound. But then I also read books written by pastors wives the majority who seem to be harried mums too lol
