As to why I identify myself as Native, I've never had a choice. People have always thought I was either Hispanic, Pacific Islander, or Native American. My white father left me with my Native mother, so I never knew any other life.
Hey, We are polar opposites, my native father left me to my white mother.

There can hardly a case be made for the Christianity of the men who built railroads and politicians who handled the expansion west. There were some wicked evil men involved in all that.

There are a number of significant reasons Native Americans are so strongly against becoming Christians, as the following will show.

First, the whole "Manifest Destiny" thing. The idea that white people were divinely ordained to settle the whole continent of North America-which necessarily meant removing and/or destroying the Native people already here. The premise that white people were inherently superior, and the conviction that God had ordained them to conquer the North American territories from sea to shining sea led to forced removal and/or violent extermination of the Aboriginal people who were viewed as blocking the furtherance of racial and technological progress.

What this meant for us was that the government would force us off our homelands onto reservations, where men professing to be Christians would steal most of the food allocated to us and sell it for their own gain. And then the government forced two generations of children to boarding schools. At these schools, men(and women)professing to be Christians beat, tortured, and raped these children. Punishment was for crimes such as speaking in the only language they'd ever spoken, and other "serious" offenses. My mother told me many stories of her experiences at Chemawa Indian School in Oregon.
When those children returned to their families, they no longer had anything in common with them. Many were sent to trade schools and forced to live and work in cities, so if they ever returned to their people's there was a vast gulf between who they were, and who they should've been.

Then there was the whole eugenics thing, where Indian Health Services clinics and hospitals were routinely sterilizing Native women-perhaps as many as 50% of all Native women, until the giovernment finally put a stop to that in the 1970s.

I am a Native man. Someone pointed out that I wasn't a full blood(which is true), but blood quantum wasn't an issue for us before colonization. Blood quantum is 100% a non Native creation, and nothing we went by prior to the coming of a white man.

Another person pointed out that I was racist, and implied that I thought "whity was bad.". I never thought that, and can't even understand why someone would think I would. Doing so would entail hating half of myself, and that would not only make me stupid, but crazy as well.

The reason I made this post was to let my Christian Brothers and sisters know the challenges I had to overcome, and the challenges other Natives are facing, before becoming Christian. These things are of vital importance to me, because I need to figure out how to respond to these obstacles. I was fortunate to meet a few Christians who weren't afraid to come witness to me where I was. There are a lot more JWs and Mormons out there doing the very same thing, and i've met so many Natives professing to be Mormons and JWs. It ought not to be so. The last time I saw Christians reaching out to this Native community was at Easter, and they came here from Russia to witness to the people in my youngest daughter's community. Some people think I'm angry, and I am, but not for the reason you might think. I'm angry with myself, because I don't know how to tell my own people that we've believed a lie all this time. Real Christians don't do all the things we've been believing they did. I know this because of a few brave souls who witnessed to me. I felt God's love through them, and even though I didn't get saved until years later, I never forgot those people who showed me Jesus Christ, and His love.

So, my brothers and sisters, I don't hate you, I love you. Like Paul, I have an overwhelming love for my people, who are being left to the JWs, and the mormons. I hope some of you will benefit from knowing how hard it is for Native people to even consider Christianity. The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes, and we know that the preaching of the cross is the power of God.

I know that God is in control, but I also know that He said that the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few

The situation for Native Americans is the same for Jewish people. The history of the church has mostly been horrific. As I said in the other thread, this should never be. The same with blacks. Within the church there should never be bias, color, race. We are all one.

Years ago in Canada we were asked to do a concert at the Pentecostal church on a local reservation. We agreed to do so. The people were wonderful but something I will never forget all these years later was a Native woman approached me as the concert ended. I was standing at the CD table and before everyone else came out she walked up to me. She said, "I couldn't afford to give in the love offering. She took off three of her turquois rings and handed them to me. One for my sister,my mother and me. Before I could say no,give her a CD or anything she left the church. We have those rings today and I will never forgot that lady. It reminds me of the widows mite.

The church needs to get past it's own front doors. They seldom know how to do that. They have no outreach. Most new church members are merely church hoppers. It's a pity that the time when the church needs to reach out the most, they seem content to do their Sunday morning church, perhaps Wednesday and out. I see very few pastors motivated to reach out beyond the church doors. Jesus commanded us to go,we seem happy to let people slip into eternity without knowing the Lord. Horrific.

Thank you for sharing this. I think most of us in the UK have very little real knowledge of the Native American culture and experience. What we have comes mainly through Western films. I find it shocking that such things such as forced Sterilising only stopped as recently as the 1970s. Its not surprising that so many reject Christianity
Yes,this happened in black communities also.

It does not help when England thinks the throne of David moved to England giving them the God given right to rule, and that the royal family is the descendants of David, and the 10 lost tribes are European.

So they will go forth thinking they are superior, and God with them, but now their concept of God has moved to the God of forces, or the power of nature as their higher power, evolution, and they are still evolving.

The world gets worse as it goes along in self exaltation.

I tend to believe that America is England, and the plan all along of England to establish a nation that would be different from them that was going forth with force to rule, for that only goes so far, but with a nation that claims peace and harmony for the world, and all men are created equal, and allows religious diversity, and all ethnic groups to be there, they can show the world that all people can live together despite their differences, and try to bring the nations together, and then their agenda can come out, and they have the world's power at their disposal.

But then because of their plan comes the hypocrisy of going contrary to what they wanted to put forth concerning America, for they had to put down the Native Americans, and totally control the country, for they could not allow the Native Americans to be in charge, and say let us live among you in peace but you are the owners, and rulers, but they had to completely dominate the country from sea to shining sea, so it would be all their way and no one else, for their agenda to actually come to pass.

They claim men are created equal, and all ethnic groups, and religions equal, and prosperity for all, and immigration, and the pursuit of liberty and happiness, but treated the Native Americans contrary to what they claimed.

For if they wanted to establish the country the way they did in order for their plan to work, saying equality, and all men are created equal, why did they not have that attitude from the start when dealing with the Native Americans.

But then their hypocrisy went to owning Africans as slaves which does not make sense again, but then justified it.

Now an African can be a servant, employed if he chooses, but by force is certainly not justified.

Or did they not know of their plan all along, for they did not know how far they could go in controlling, and ruling, but it developed as time went on, and technology caused them to branch farther.

But I believe they knew of their plan all along from the start, and would take it as far as possible, which means they would want control, and rulership of the world.

So I do not understand how they can justify the hypocrisy of the past when dealing with people when their nation claims freedom of speech, freedom of press, and equality, when it was their plan all along to try to bring the world together by showing favor to all religions, and ethnic groups.

But they will eventually take away the freedoms again, and go back to the hypocrisy in a bigger fashion, when the nations come together and say Peace and safety, for now the world is together, and sudden destruction comes upon them for they will go against all who oppose them, for the governments came together, but many people will rebel.

And then the equality, and freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, are gone, and they are back acting like the time when they treated the Native Americans bad to further their agenda, and goal, of controlling the world.

They started out cruel to start their plan, and then by a peace plan for the world, and all are created equal, and freedom of religion, and immigration, and the pursuit of liberty and happiness for all, and then they will go right back to being cruel when the world comes together.

And the Roman Catholic Church will go right back to persecuting like they did in the past.

For it is all part of the plan, and whatever the plan to get the world to come together, whether cruel, or peace, and justifying it all the way.

Oh we were ignorant, and cruel, they will say concerning the start of the country, and say sorry, but they do not really mean it, for when the nations come together it is right back to being cruel again, and they are not sorry.

The Bible says the Roman Empire does not lose their dominion until Jesus puts them down, and they shall devour the whole earth, and tread it down, and break it in pieces, and the world will be split in to ten sections with a leader in each section, who is of the Roman Empire, and the little horn shall come from the ten horns, who is of the Roman Empire.

Because it was the plan all along when they first came to America.

The Hegel System.

1.Thesis- America and that type of system.

2.Anti-thesis- Russia and that type of system, opposites.

3.Synthesis- back to the first but in a higher form, the ten horn kingdom, which they believe is a better form of system than either one alone.

Democrat-liberal, Republican-conservative, is a Hegel principle, and it gets everyone involved, but no solution but back and forth, and then a compromise to bring them all together.

Russia and America, and Democrat and Republican, opposites but actually working together.

And it is close to the nations coming together, which is why the liberals are pouring it on more than in time past, pushing homosexuality more, and being a vegetarian more, fighting over the wall, no solution, compromise dissolve the border, Mexico, America, Canada, super nation number 1, Trump introducing the microchip as a solution to cut down on crime, mark of the beast, pushing for peace in the Middle East more than any other president, for when it is established the nations will come together.

So it was their plan all along, so they had to be cruel to totally dominate the country, so those people back then were treated badly, and stripped from land, and then claim peace for the world, and equality and immigration, and all religions, and ethnic groups equal, and the pursuit of liberty and happiness, and then when the nations come together it is back to being cruel to all who oppose them so they can totally dominate the world, and control it, and establish a kingdom for the New Age Christ.

I believe America is England, and they wanted it to look like some rebelled, and broke off from England, so America could work in the world like no other nation to bring the nations together, and get the concept of peace between all people out there, so they can establish their kingdom in the future.

And the Roman Catholic Church will go right back to persecuting like they did in the past, for it is their religious institution in Europe, and their concept of God will be changed, and worse in the truth than they have been.

Cruelty, get a foothold, and control, of a nation, then peace and equality, then back to cruelty, get a foothold, and control, of the world.

But Jesus has something else to say about the whole matter for He will put them down for they are not of God, and not in the truth, and will rebel against God, which He will end this sin business on earth.

So the Native Americans should not be against the white man's Christianity, for they are not in the truth of Christianity, and it is not the white man's Christianity, but it stemmed from the Jews from God, for the oracles of God were given to them.

Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

This applies to the people at the tribulation period that are going against the saints, and they will soon be caught up to Jesus, but this can apply to the entire history of mankind, for Jesus will go against all people that were cruel towards other people when they are judged.

They are not getting away with anything for they cannot escape Jesus, so their cruel ways of the past will be brought up in judgement, and they will pay for their crimes then.

Yes, technological progress the new age, old age god of this world .as good increase to do those who devour them

What a terrible tribulation there is for the Aboriginal people as part of mankind. Whole families wiped out in the name of Christianity . Satan is a murderer from the beginning in him there is no truth. We are to know, no man after the flesh as that in which the eyes see, the temporal. The Spirit within us fights against the flesh, we walk by a faith that comes from hearing the voice of God.

The Aboriginal people of Australians face the same manner of spirit out of sight out of mind .No need for faith.

Yes,this happened in black communities also.
Gotta love the native people. Specially the Stockbridge Munsie tribe .

The father of lies is in the business of displacing people while the true gospel unites through its loving commandments (know no man after the flesh, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, walk by faith to mention a few .It would seem the gospel of peace gave some victory only to displace another nation and put them in a place of slavery. (non people)

What's the next replacement ? Gender... no discriminations. or the next call of freedom, Pedophile rights? or perhaps Humans can marry other beasts of the field? Cat and Dog etc SSI disability benefits.? Marriage no longer man and woman working together to become one. Now then can start as one.

Some Indian tribes had black slaves. Today it causes a great confusion for the tribes. Some of the family members were mixed with slave DNA . Where will the casino $$$$ go to is causing division.

Much wisdom is needed with the leaders. Traditions of men are subject to change. Traditions of God as the law of God are not. .

I think, most Native American believe all white are Christian, so when white enslave them, they think Christian enslave them, than they look Christian as their enemy.

We have to think correctly, not all white are real Christian, real Christian not racist, not enslave other.
This is at the heart of the problem. As usual, real Christians were always in a minority.

What we usually forget is that (beginning with Christopher Columbus) the Spaniards and Roman Catholicism appeared in North and South America long before other Europeans. So all the errors of Rome were introduced to Natives, while the unconverted Spaniards took advantage of them, and also created problems for them. The only real benefit was the introduction of the horse to the Americas.

What we also usually forget is that the Natives are their own worst enemies, particularly their chiefs. The billions of tax-payer dollars poured into the Natives have mostly gone down the drain. And since many Natives are now well educated, they do not have to rely on whites for either evangelism or economic progress. But too many have chosen casinos as their salvation.

Well believe it or not most u.s. citizens dont know the truth as to what happened to the native americans. And if you try and explain they have no interest. Sad isn't it? You should see how they are forced to live to this day. To pleased that you show compasion for these people. God bless...

"Sad is the fact that out of shame, many go to great lengths to 'oppress' truth in all it's ugliness.
Truth has a way of being in denial, for shame itself has no shame. Self justification has consequences.
It is being witnessed, precisely that of which many are in fear of, the not knowing of the UNKNOWN,
for imagination and illusions, tends to allow a sense of security, for they know not of the significance
of 'the meek and downtrodden' ...

I thank you for writing this. I back your words 100%. The people of this country show no interest in your words. They show as much now as they did when they arrived here. If they were truly christians then they could never have done what was done. True followers of Jesus wouldnt have harmed anyone because it would have gone against what Jesus taught them. If i am not mistaken, native americans thanked the father for everything they ate and did being at one with the creator. Their lives devoted to each other untill the end no matter what. No nursing homes, no prisons, no domestic violence and revered their aging for their wisdom to name just a few. Even the constitution was taken from them. The difference being that the indians lived it and the u.s. does not. I guess the sadest thing is that it continues on to this day and the people still dont care.
Well i am glad you have written this. Please correct me if i have said anything wrong or out of place. Take care......

Alright, time for some hard truths in love.

Horrible things have happened all over the World for many thousands of yrs.

But there seems to be this glammorization in the current culture of what was going on with "indigenous" people all over the World, especially in America.

These were not harmonious, one with the Earth, peace loving people, as depicted in Disneylike movies "Pocahontas".

These were sinful, violent, demon worshipping people, just like people all over the World that didn't have Christ.

Some of these people sacrificed their men, women, and children to these demons regularly.

As horrific as Christopher Columbus, and other explorers and conquerers turned out to be for the natives, and as awful as their conduct was to the people, they DID bring one thing that made an eternal difference to an untold number. THE GOSPEL!!!

God in his mercy brought these men to save some.

Difficult concept to swallow in today's culture, but true nonetheless.

Those people that perpetrated despicable acts against indigenous people WILL answer to God!

But people need to stop focusing on ethnicity (I don't use the word race anymore, as we are ALL ONE RACE) and focus instead on Christ, and stop using the sins of other men to justify their rejection of HIM.

"I would like to share my personal experience of years gone past.
As a journeyman Ironworker of over two decades, I had the good fortune of working side
by side with a group of fearless, dedicated, spirit filled Native American Indians...( Navajo )
Worked with them, drank and shared with them...( yeow...lol )...they always showed immense
respect and love of the Spirit. They had 'mentioned' a great 'white' spirit that they knew of well,
so far as had entered their 'being' and of the great 'light'........fast forward years later...with tears
flowing, I encountered this great 'white light'......Praise God.......the chatter being heard, I felt
led to share, my love and gratitude of the lives my path has crossed of those that have a heavy
burden to carry, but the ones I met, carried it with a strength and courage of real 'warriors'...
we all would do well, of such strength and courage."
'Praise God'
( click on the 'white light'...should a chill sensation be felt.....HELLO! )
2 Corinthians 11:14 (KJV) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
