Definition of sin https://www.gotquestions.org/definition-sin.html

Sin is about damage and destruction of that which God has created.
Wickedness serves selfish objections, while righteousness serves others.

The key issue is abiding in our communion with Jesus through the Holy Spirit and repentance.

Jesus calls this abiding in the vine, being part of the body of Christ.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
John 15:5-6

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain
1 Cor 15:57-58

How can we judge ourselves as far as walking in perfection is concerned.

I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself.
My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
1 Cor 4:3-5

Paul describes his walk in this way

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.
1 Thess 2:10

It is this objective which is our goal, our witness, not because of ourselves but because of His work within us.

The mistake is believing their is an arrival, because tomorrow we can fail.
It is always about being a witness and carrying our cross daily.

Sin in the greek is to “miss the Mark”

The mark is set by God. Not some webpage which thinks they know what it is.

Gods mark is perfection.

Anything done which falls short of that mark (whether it be overt actions, Thoughts of the mind, or inaction) is sin

A baby child of God can not understand realy what sin is, They start a lifetime journey of God teaching them what sin is. Thats why mature christians (like paul) understand how deep of a sinner they really are (Oh wretched man I AM) and how gratefull they are for the grace of God who saved them from that body of sin.

A person who is young in christ, or who has never met christ peronally can not comprehend this, This is one reason you will see them focus on sin so much. They do not realise how deep a sinner they really are. And have not yet been taught or trained on how to break those sins, they think because they do not commit a few overt sins (murder, sexual sin, rape, pornography etc etc) that they are righteous.. When sin is MUCH MUCH deeper than those things. (They will also judge others of loving sin, whihc is a natural response from people trying to hide their own sin so they can not see it..)

Piety

I have heard of people who are very pious, look how good I am at being godly.
Or feeling so guilty about failure and sin they have to punish themselves continually.

The power of the cross, is there is nothing we can do beside it to prove we are not
worthy of being judged. Some think of the cross being a distant thing.

The turin shroud is interesting, because it demonstrates who terrible was the
scourging of Christ. It was so bad, it is almost impossible to imagine it.
Jesus was so weak, someone else had to carry His cross for Him.

Once you understand of the statement of the cross by a man, who was also God,
there is nothing that compares. It is this that is our point of healing and understanding
our debt to Him and also how all our sin can be forgiven.

Paul came to realise this reality so could say

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
Gal 2:20

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Gal 6:14

The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!
Gal 2:20-21

Death has been swallowed up in victory."
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
1 Cor 15:54-56

Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Concerning love

I think John says it best

1 John 4: 17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love [c]Him because He first loved us.

If we do not understand our eternal life is secure, and that we can stand boldly on the day of judgment, Because it is IN CHRIST we stand (salvation is secure and can not be lost) then we have NOT been made perfect in love, But are still seeking it.

Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
1 Cor 15:1-2

I die every day--I mean that, brothers--just as surely as I glory over you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Cor 15:31

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.
Do everything in love.
1 Cor 16:13-14

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
1 Cor 10:12-13

For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.
It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'"
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Rom 14:10-12

"Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified." (John 7:38&39)

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. ( Galatians 5:16 )

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John5:3-5 )

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5

(regrettably I have to go to work now but this mutual sharing of faith (Rom 1:12) has been a real blessing for me. Thank you all. )

A secure position

Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.
2 Peter 3:17

if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
(for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
2 Peter 2:7-9

And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.
You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.
James 2:23-24

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin.
But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
1 John 2:1-3

Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Rom 10:4

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Rom 10:9-10

Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
Rom 11:20-21

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Rom 12:1-2

Is not being like Jesus being in fellowship with Him?
Well, we are like Jesus in Spirit when Holy Spirit has filled us. But, you seem to not understand that we are a triune being too. Spirit, soul, body.

We grow in Spirit from the inside outward. Do you think this is right?

I really don't need a web site to provide the definition of sin. Yes, we should walk like Jesus but the thing is He can walk on water and that is a hard thing to emulate.

LOL someone voted just stay as we are?

Bwahahaha.
Actually, that was a profound spiritual response to the poll. You should live each day as if it is your last day on this earth in your humble service to the Lord.

Interesting question.
Greek - spirit - pneuma - the Holy Spirit, a demon, our spirit, a spirit of wisdom
soul - psyche - our mind, our life, who we are

Hebrew - spirit - wə·rū·aḥ -
a steadfast spirit within Psalm 51:10
a new spirit within Ezek 11:19

So our spirit seems to be who we are emotionally, our balance in life, our expression
of how we are, how we interact, our direction.

Our soul is who we are, our essence, our life.

So the new spirit we have when we are born again is the result of healing of our souls
and emotions or attitudes, that gives us a new way of interacting or spirit.

This makes sense in language terms.
Our spirits in Christ do grow as we become like Him and perfect, when ever that might be.

Hi follow..

The word seed in reference to seed of the Word is:

G4690

σπέρμα

sperma

sper'-mah

From G4687; somethng sown, that is, seed (including the male "sperm"); by implication offspring; specifically a remnant (figuratively as if kept over for planting): - issue, seed.

Total KJV occurrences: 44

It is speiro when the seed is received.

I see this as similar to reproduction. So our Spirit would be as an egg receiving the life giving seed. I am not saying is an egg. Dont misunderstand.

When I say from the inside out, I am seeing that as we grow in Spirit, our soul and body becomes whole. It's as if the Lord Himself is touching us. But, this is of faith and we must believe . There is where the power with Father will be found. In reference to answered prayer.

I didn't vote in the poll (I never do :) , so no offense personally), but here is my answer:

Galatians 5:25 [blb] -

"25 If [if-factually] we live by the Spirit, we should also walk [present subjunctive active] by the Spirit."

We are born from the seed the word of God, His words.

The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11

This is not a egg, it is not a spirit. So you appear to be creating something that is simply not there.
It is an interesting idea, but it does not seem to make any sense or be in scripture.

What you have written also does not seem to make sense. Is this a teaching moment I am meant
to receive something? :) God bless you

I do not think the apostles expected us to do the miracles Jesus did, but emulate his attitude
to others. It is why I summarised the sermon on the mount to make it easier to get the gist
of my point.

Often believers spend too little time thinking about how Jesus handled situations.
How He dealt with Judas is full of grace and love, knowing the outcome, and knowing all
was in Gods hands. That is just one small example.
