maybe it's been asked and I haven't found it yet, but what exactly is the purpose of trophy points? Is it just a status quo thing, or does something special happen when you get so many? PLEASE! inquiring minds want to know................:unsure::unsure:

I have no idea. I got one recently and I have no idea what it's for, or what it means.

Nothing happens. It is part of the software platform CC is built on.

Under the old format you could give another member rep points which when added up would add a rep power that was displayed on each post you wrote. Trophies are mainly based on a certain number of posts you write and a certain number of likes. The max amount is 113 and you can go no higher than that. I accumulated that within 2 hours after the changeover. Nothing special happens and I feel like it is an almost worthless feature that means very little. No, not really a status symbol at all because eventually, any one who is a regular contributor to the forums will max out on points on short order. Perhaps the intent of the system was to make you feel special but if everyone is special then really, no one is in regards to trophy points. Personally, I don't pay any attention to the points.

yes, it's useless, and yes, i had been on the site for a few years, and fairly active, before the forum revamp, which carried over as much as it could all the previous content, so i immediately had the max 113 'trophy points' when the site rebooted.

here is a link to the official help file entry, that gives a little description about them:

https://christianchat.com/help/trophies/

they're really nothing more than a built-in 'bragging right' that came with the forum shell. we shouldn't be bragging; we ((most of us)) are followers of Christ :)
i'm not any better than anyone just because i've been bumming around here a long time :p

isn't there something better that could be done with the memory (or whatever stores/controls throphies)? that would actually be beneficial? The rate I ramble that'll be maxed out in no time............... useless.

I loved the old rep system as there was no limit on the amount of rep power that could be accumulated. The amount of rep you could award was based on your own rep power, the higher the rep power you had the more rep points you could award. At the time that it ended with the changeover I had the second highest rep power, not to say that I deserved it all or that I was special in anyway. Mainly, it was a great way to reward a post that you particularly agreed with or thought it was well written, concise and to the point. You could award rep for any reason you chose however. It was also kind of fun. Current trophy system is meaningless because if you write any amount of posts at all you will soon max out.

It's part of the software platform the site is based on. So the owner has no control really. So I wouldn't be so critical.

Aww I see. Sorry, didn't mean to sound critical, in my twisted mind it was suppose to be funny.......... See, I'm not a big techy person and I'm not online for much. I'm not even a week old here on this site,I consider this my "social media" and sometimes end up rambling on and on and on and on and on and OH NO! I'm doing it again
So you see, it wasn't intended to be critical, my apologies that it came across that way.

I get the same misconception frequently. No worries. (=
