You argue the resurrection was on a Sunday, but it was actually on a Saturday evening. Christ was buried just before sundown: and 3 days/3 nights add up to a just before sundown resurrection. Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday. The Romans said it was Friday because of the sundown Sabbath was approaching. But it says in John 19:14 it was the preparation day (crucifixion day) which is the day before the annual Sabbath of the First Day of Unleavened Bread. Ask any Jew what the preparation day is. An annual Sabbath is called a high day.

John 19:31: "The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away."

John 20:1: "The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre."

Three days and three nights raises Him on Saturday evening. He had already risen unseen by early Sunday. Jesus was talking with Mary saying he had not ascended to His Father yet:

John 20:16-18: “Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.”

John 20:19: “Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.”

Later that same day He appeared to His disciples and they could touch Him. That is when He told Thomas to touch His wounds and then He ate with them. So, we can say for sure the first ascension was on Sunday. We are given a picture of His ascension as the wave sheaf day: [look up wave sheaf day for yourself] when the first fruits were waved before God as a tribute. This was always done on the first Sunday after Passover.

Christ was buried just before sundown: and 3 days/3 nights add up to a just before sundown resurrection. Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday.

Before Sundown Wednesday – before Sundown Thursday – Day 1

Before Sundown Thursday – before Sundown Friday – Day 2

Before Sundown Friday – before Sundown Saturday – Day 3

Three days and three nights raises Him on Saturday evening before sundown. He had already risen unseen by early Sunday.

Easter day was founded on prejudicial and has pagan roots that date back thousands of years. If We would celebrate HIS Resurrection it should be done on the end of Passover week not tomorrow. That was when it happened. Solomen thought that there was no issue with ascribing to the pagan practice of sacrificing in high places to our GOD. His intentions were pure but it is recorded as a short coming.... Solomon demonstrated his loyalty to the LORD by following the practices of his father David, EXCEPT that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.
(1Ki 3:3 NET)
Every Sunday is considered resurrection Sunday. That's why we go to church on Sundays. To go against it would mean to stop going to church. Since I'm sure that would not please God I'm not even going there.

The pagan roots exist because it was a way to make the transition easier for pagans to convert to Christianity back when it first started. I think when you understand that idea it's easier to accept. Obviously caring for another person's soul and being saved is the most important thing.

keep in mind, the person who stared this thinks you have to keep the jewish Sabbath to be saved. you have to go back several months, but if you go through the past posts , you will see this.

People who love the Lord so they want to follow Him do not substitute Easter for Passover. God told us to celebrate the blood of the lamb that, when God sees it because we post it will have the death that sin brings to us pass over us and we are saved. It was an example of what Christ does. The Lord did not tell us to stop celebrating Passover, but make up a new way of celebrating, demons say it is just fine to not listen to what the Lord tells us.

Even the name that demons named the substitution they gave to man was one men made up. God told us Passover, God did not tell us Easter.

Every thing that demons do has one purpose, it is to go to them as a substitute for God. They told Adam to go ahead and not do as God says and Adam was promised it would give him more even that what God gave. Demons told Christ when he was tempted in the wilderness that He didn't need to follow what His Father told Him, everything would be fine. The church tells us Easter is better than Passover, and it isn't, it is better to follow the Lord.

I agree with both your assessment and warning!!

I find it much like viewing, the beginnings of the United States of America as being a nation with Godly beliefs, even though there is a Treaty written by John Adams, declaring America is not founded on the God of the Holy Bible (it's stated it was written as such to appease the Arab (Muslim) peoples to agree to the Treaty).

But the 10 Commandments was once a staple of morality. Now because of different cultures with different backgrounds and beliefs, we no longer can say America was founded on Yahweh, or the 10 Commandments is our moral compass because we might offend someone and get arrested.

Merry CHRISTmas is now Happy Holidays.

Preachers/evangelists are being held by the courts, to refrain who can be labelled as a sinner or not, even when we find it written in God's Word.

SINNERS used to have closets they hid in. But society has accepted them and now are trying to force believers into a closet.

Not sure about you or anyone on these forums, but it's ticking me off.

Paul spent the majority of his ministry behind bars locked up. It's coming full circle to the point, it's where we are also headed.

Greater is HE that is within me, than he that is within the world!!
Not that jail is my cup of tea, but if God is BEFORE me, then WHO can be against me?
That is becoming my frame of mind, as the days pass by...

* at dawn, on the first day of the week.
1 = 8mod(7)

at dawn would be midway through the 8th day, because it begins at sundown the night before - remembering that our common calendar doesn't count days the way the scripture does. we begin at midnight, and we mark months according to a counted number of days, but the scripture calls sundown the beginning of the day, and new moon the beginning of the month.

what else happens on the 8th day in scripture?

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God — even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
(1 Corinthians 10:31-33)
what should i do?

refrain from going to church on sunday, because it causes the sabbitarians to stumble,
and refrain also from going to church on saturday, because it causes the rest to stumble?
do not celebrate with those who celebrate today, because it causes the jew to stumble,
and also do not celebrate on pesach, because it causes the gentiles to stumble?

maybe i will stay in my house and eat my bread in the presence of God alone, who alone never stumbles, and is alone able to keep my feet, too -- but alas! when i'm not seen in the congregation, they will stumble at my absence!

smh

this verse, tho, i know what to do with:

If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go,
eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience.
(1 Corinthians 10:27)
if God is with me, i will drink poison and not be harmed :)

this argument to me is not real. in my native tongue the word for easter and passover is the same word. we only have one word for it.

thats why "easter is pagan" is like saying "passover is pagan" here. we dont have this debate lolz

After reading through this thread there is no proof that Easter is Pagan. Such a claim does not meet historical standards of proof. Woodrow's book refutes claims like this.

here is the thing people- judeaizers tie everything to Sabbath keeping for salvation. so, the whole Resurrection undermines this.

so, they come in and say " celebrate Passover, not Easter. keep the Sabbath, do NOT go to church on sunday."

they even try to convince us we are worshiping pagan gods- ( Easter- nimrod. sunday- the sun god ).
of course, there are pagan roots or ties to most everything we see, but they jump all over these, because these are easily tied to the Sabbath.

do not fall for their tricks and propaganda. believe on Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. thank Him and praise Him for what he did today ( Esater) and every day hereafter!

I am a historian, computer and math teacher by education. I apply college level and professional standards to such claims.
None of those claims meets those standards and are just nonsense as you know.

Thank You for your concerns friend.

No one here said Easter was pagan. The day in which Easter is observed has pagan roots. If Woodrow does not address that in his book and the fact that the day was picked over the Passover cycle due to prejudice against the Jews, then his work is extremely bias.
