If anyone should have been on intimate terms with God and with His son
Jesus Christ in the last century, surely it had to be Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu
(a.k.a. Mother Teresa) but curiously, that wasn't the case. It turns out
Teresa was a remarkable actor. Her public image bore no resemblance
whatsoever to the secret life of her inner being. Below are some complaints
she expressed in private letters to spiritual counselors recorded in:

Mother Teresa / Come Be My Light
The Private Writings of the "Saint of Calcutta"

Edited with commentary by Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, M.C.
ISBN 978-0-385-52037-9

"I am told God loves me; and yet the reality of darkness & coldness &
emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul."

"The place of God in my soul is blank-- There is no God in me"

"I feel He does not want me, He is not there, God does not want me"

"When I try to raise my thoughts to Heaven, there is such convicting
emptiness that those very thoughts return like sharp knives and hurt my
very soul. How painful is this unknown pain-- I have no faith."

Teresa also complained of feeling abandoned by Christ-- referring to him as
"the absent one"

Teresa was never really convinced there's a God out there.

"The damned of Hell suffer eternal punishment because they experiment
with the loss of God. In my own soul, I feel the terrible pain of this loss. I
feel that God does not want me, that God is not God; and that He does not
really exist."

At one point Teresa actually prayed thus:

"If there be God; please forgive me."

A prayer that begins with "If there be God" is the prayer of an agnostic;
which Webster's defines as one who is not committed to believing in either
the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god. According to Jas 1:5-8,
agnostic prayers are pings.

To her credit, Teresa wanted a God to be out there, but her utter failure to
feel even the slightest glimmer of the Lord's presence prevented her from
being sure about it.

Matthew 25:31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

It is sad that after all she did to heal the sick, clothe the naked, feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, and visit those imprisoned, people feel a need to tear her down by exposing her innermost thoughts in times of despair and weakness.

I'm thankful that my Judge is trustworthy, and that I don't need to be the one doing the judging. He's got Mama T sorted rightly.

The extent of self-righteousness, *shaking my head*

Romans 3:23 and Jeremiah 17:9 is enough evidence of the intent is to prove that no one is perfect

Unless if the intent is more malicious, and I find it next to impossible to see how would the intention be more pure than confirming the Scripture in Romans and Jeremiah

If anyone feel that, that should be a prayer thread

And someone like Levi will pray blessing

And Emily Foster will compassionately offer prayer with God's positive attribute that will be helpful at the least

This sentiment can be a blessing to draw strength upon, Teresa is still a role model

Sounds like statements anyone would make when going through hard times. That does not make her agnostic, it makes her human..

Interesting that they released this "confidential" information now. I'm sure there's no fame or money involved in that. 👼

Interesting that they released this "confidential" information now.

The book was published September 4th 2007, which was nine years previous
to Teresa's canonization on September 4, 2016, and going on twelve years
previous to today, June 27, 2019

BTW: Father Brian Kolodiejchuk was a close friend of Teresa's for roughly
twenty years, and as of the book's publishing, he was the director of the
Mother Teresa Center and a postulator for her canonization.

The book was published with ecclesiastic authorization and cleared for
take off with appropriate nihil obstat and imprimatur.

This is more of a testament against the Church Teresa was taught in rather than Teresa herself. I wonder if she'd accept the title of 'saint' knowing millions of others more worthy of the title (but not in and of themselves) were passed over by the RCC?

This is more of a testament against the Church Teresa was taught in rather
than Teresa herself.

Teresa was no doubt well-taught in the Roman Catechism, but I feel very
strongly that she wasn't well-taught in the Bible.

Below are some quotes taken from Teresa's own private letters; and
excerpts of her statements from other sources.

"Only pray that I keep up this joy exteriorly. I deceive people with this
weapon-- even my Sisters."

"I am told God loves me; and yet the reality of darkness & coldness &
emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul."

"Now Father-- since 49 or 50 this terrible sense of loss-- this untold
darkness-- this loneliness, this continual longing for God-- which gives me
pain deep down in my heart-- Darkness is such that I really do not see
neither with my mind nor with my reason-- the place of God in my soul is
blank-- There is no God in me-- when the pain of longing is so great-- I just
long & long for God-- and then it is that I feel-- He does not want me-- He is
not there-- God does not want me-- Sometimes-- I just hear my own heart
cry out-- "My God" and nothing else comes-- the torture and pain I can't
explain"

"My smile is a great cloak that hides a multitude of pains."

In order to analyze Mother Teresa intelligently, it's necessary to bring her
religion into the picture because Teresa was a Christian missionary whose
duty it was to represent the beliefs and practices of Roman Catholicism;
which is a religion that holds the Holy Bible in very high regard.

"The Scriptures are sacred and canonical because: Having been written by
inspiration of the Holy Ghost, they have God for their author, and as such
have been handed down to the Church"

(Vatican Council; Sess. III, c. ii)

"In its pages we recognize His voice, we hear a message of deep significance
for every one of us. Through the spiritual dynamism and prophetic force of
the Bible, the Holy Spirit spreads His light and His warmth over all men, in
whatever historical or sociological situation they find themselves."

(Paulus PP VI, from the Vatican, September 18, 1970)

So then; according to that Vatican Council and Paulus PP VI; when I listen
to the Bible; I'm listening to the voice of God, and I'm also listening to that
which the Holy Spirit utilizes to spread His light and His warmth over all
men.

Ergo: if conscientious Christians are to truly understand Teresa's spiritual
problems, they have to utilize the Holy Bible to analyze them or otherwise
they'll just end up making excuses for her like so many others.

Now the tragedy is: Teresa's spiritual counselors didn't turn to the Holy Bible
to analyze her spiritual problems; as a result, they were just as mystified as
she was and no help at all. It's awful to think that the very people that the
poor woman depended upon so heavily might just as well been oil field
roughnecks and shipyard welders because they were utterly incompetent as
her personal shepherds.

You know; when your ship is sinking and another sinking ship is sent to your
rescue; you're in really big, big trouble because at that point, no amount of
prayer and sympathy will keep you from going to Davy Jones.

I don't see the point of this thread. The woman had the same frailties as we all have. What she wrote was a snapshot of how she felt at the time. We all have times when God seems absent from our lives. Only God really knows who are his.

Not to get off topic from Teresa, but it's too bad they hold to Church Councils! Tradition and Papal decrees on par, if not above, Scripture...maybe not on paper but surely in practice.

That's why I brought up the point of the effects of bad teaching. If she had followed Scripture she could have been spared some of her painful thoughts.

I do not believe that last line for one micro second....John said thes things are written that YOU MAY BELIEVE AND KNOW that you have eternal life......and contrary to the popular, uneducated, non biblical view....we can with 100% surety judge the gospel(s) that people put their faith into...........and deem them false or valid based upon the word of God

John Q and Jane Doe pew warmer probably won't benefit much from this
thread. However, for Christians seriously considering becoming missionaries,
the Bible study that I'm in process of conducting will prove invaluable.

Well; at least you can take comfort in knowing you're not a captive audience,
nor wasted good money for a ticket to sit thru a dull movie.

Some of Teresa's concepts were questionable and I should think that they
surely had something to do with her deplorable spiritual condition. For
example:

In an interview, Teresa is quoted as saying:

"Of course I convert. I convert you to be a better Hindu or a better Muslim
or a better Protestant. Once you've found God, it's up to you to decide how
to worship him"
(Mother Teresa Touched Other Faiths, Associated Press, 9/7/97)

The April 7-13, 1990, issue of Radio Times tells the story of Mother Teresa
sheltering an old Hindu priest. "She nursed him with her own hands and
helped him to die reconciled with his own gods."

I think it goes without saying that Christian missionaries are not supposed to
be helping pagans die reconciled to their own gods. They're supposed to be
helping pagans die reconciled to the one true God by means of Christ's
crucifixion. Nor are they supposed to be converting pagans to become better
Hindus or better Muslims.

In her book, "Life in the Spirit: Reflections, Meditations and Prayers",
Teresa says:

"We never try to convert those who receive [aid from Missionaries of
Charity] to Christianity but in our work we bear witness to the love of God’s
presence and if Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, or agnostics become for
this better men -- simply better -- we will be satisfied. It matters to the
individual what church he belongs to. If that individual thinks and believes
that this is the only way to God for her or him, this is the way God comes
into their life -- his life. If he does not know any other way and if he has no
doubt so that he does not need to search then this is his way to salvation.”

(Pages 81-82)

The above is no less than a manifesto repudiating the great commission
wherein Christ commanded his disciples:

"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you."
(Matt 28:18-20)

Teresa said "in our work we bear witness to the love of God’s presence"
while in her private letters Teresa complained:

"I am told God loves me; and yet the reality of darkness & coldness &
emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul."

"The place of God in my soul is blank-- There is no God in me"

"I feel He does not want me, He is not there, God does not want me"

Well of course God was "not there". He couldn't possibly take part in a
ministry that strayed from His son's agenda.

1John 1:6 . . If we say we have fellowship with Him while we continue to
walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth.

Hi while I ma no expert I daily for over 10 years did commune with many Catholics and have I believe learned some things other than its a very dark place that they call the light of world under the authority of a Queen Mother.

We must be careful how we hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. . . all the denominations. .

He warns us of the seed snatcher the father of lies is always ready to take away the understanding of God not seen. Accusing the brethren day and night .Did God say? We who do mix faith in what we do hear do receive that Sabbath rest as our daily bread.

Mother T preached another gospel not mixing saving faith in her works and therefore did despite to the Spirit of the grace of God.. Serving her own flesh the temporal but not the soul, rather than both. (no gospel) Hebrews 4:1-2

Catholisicim is another authority other than all things written in the law and prophets. (sola scriptura) their nemesis are reforming authority in any generation. . catholisicim has its continuing authority of seeking after men as their own living hope, private revelations of mystics brining updates continually as a illusion of a living hope coming from God. God sends a strong delusion .

Catholicism one of the biggest fields white unto harvest . Keep bringing the true gospel. The one that gives us the spiritual unseen understanding. Like offered by faith to John who was about to be beheaded and had doubts . John received his rest from doubt when he heard (not seen) the words of Christ.

They like some other sects refuse to mix faith according to the presecrition given to us below. They insist in aking it about what the eyes see.

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

The work of the gospel as the meat of the word as gospel was mixed with fleshly necessary to maintain these bodies of death lt needs as well as the gospel our need of new souls by which we can believe God as if he was seen ,

Luke 7:22Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

Isaiah 29:18And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

They take away the need to hear the word of God. They walk by sight (no mixing faith) can seek the approval of men seen as a false zeal for knowing God not seen makes the authority of God's word without effect. She simply says she will not gives word written as a source of living
faith

Catholicism used Teresa flesh as their defense or confirmation We are the church just look and see.. as if the kingdom of God did come by observation. Just as they did with Mary. Teresa calling Mary mother and queen You could say to keep the unknow line of communication going as if it (queen) was a source of faith as her own voice .

The foundation of Catholisicim is founded on necromancy (Hebrew "Darash" Isaiah 8:20) . Which is Seeking to commune with disembodies workers with familiar spirits or what they as law of their fathers (the worship-able venerable ones) they command the non venerable pew Catholic they must call called the unseen "patron saints".

The Old tesetemmt Jews followed the same manner of upside down spirit. Different names same manner of spirit (no faith) that comes form hearing God (sola scriptura)

She was received into the official home of Rome hall of fame as a patron saint . Increasing the churches goods. . like for instance connected with her signatures They are going for over $2000. Raises the Catholic stock market . The silver shrines also available on line. Golden ones, I could not image the cost for a person to feast the eyes on as a mediator to put a face on the spirits (legion) when they come up.

The old testemtment Jews that did not walk by the faith that comes from hearing God again followed the same wrong manner of spirit. . .

Teresa did all to the glory of Rome her Queen Mother. (self righteous goddess like what the call the Queen mother. One her princesses is the mentality .I believe there are four authorized mothers as goddesses ,like Diana in Acts. with others upcoming . The process of new patron saints as worker with familiar spirit gods is picking speed going faster than ever before. 3, 500 and rising.

According to the same manner of spirit below it sets the foundation of Teresa. No gospel .Just food for the flesh and healing for the flesh, that will die. Which they hope their flesh will not die. The hope of natural unconverted man confirming. the switch of wills in the garden. . . .when Christ's faith that worked in the heat of man departed and men walked by sight. men following the things of men. (no faith)
.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Genesis 3:4

Or like in Acts below where mysticism is exposed for what it is another hope (false) other than all things written in the law and the prophets . . . . making it as it is written without effect. .

For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth. Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands: So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians. And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.Act19: 24-28

the point of the thread is to stir up hatred by someone that hates Catholics. it blows my mind that there are people thet devote so much of their life to such shallow things, quite the opposite of Mother Teresa who devoted her life to helping others. IMO when you find yourself in such a low spot that you attack those that are devoted to serving the greater good, you might want to re think your life and ask where it all went so horribly wrong.
