These words were written directly to King George III of Britain of the Holy Roman Empire , but who counsel these kings not only in Britain , but also in France , Spain , and other parts of Europe to do such things to men as themselves .
This piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the CHRISTIAN king of Great Britain. determined to keep open a market where MEN should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or to restrain this execrable commerce: and that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, & murdering the people upon whom he also obtruded them; thus paying off former crimes committed against the liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.
We must ask ourselves as the readers of this document , were was the root of this wicked thing , were did it come from and by whom authority was this established ???
If one looks into History , it is clearly evident , that the authoritative roots of this wickedness , comes from the Bishop of Rome.

Please be reminded , this post is , in no ways excluding Jefferson himself as he was a slave owner , but it is interesting how Jefferson consistently spoke out against the turpitude of slavery and worked gradually to end the practice of slavery .
