You ought to watch cichlids. They are mouth breeders. They will take over your aquarium while breeding. They scoop up their eggs into their mouths and agitate the algae off them.
I watched two Jack Robinsons clean the gravel from an aquarium bottom and maintain their eggs and then the fry after they hatched.
They scoop the fry into their mouths for protection. It look like they are eating them. There we about 10-12 other fish in that aquarium but the cichlids kept them up top in one corner while they were breeding.

I once watched a nature program years ago where the Bird of Paradise,
I believe it was, created a stage and filled upon it beautiful, colored
pieces of what ever items it could find in the forest in order to
attract a mate - the delicacy of his placing each item was
awesome -it was truly quite amazing and attractive -
the labor of love that he put into his court-ship could be a lesson to many...
