Jesus was talking specifically to Jews. The people were destroyed. Israel was their world and the whole of Jerusalem went up in flames and the ground plowed over. Their world was destroyed, ended.

Verses 7-18 describes life in the last days.

Then we are told of the tribulation period in verses 19-23.

In verses 32 to 36 Jesus sums up the previous in the parable of the fig-tree.

Then in verse 37 Jesus moves forward and tells us life in the last days will be like the days of Noah, but unlike the flood when the wicked drowned, this time the redeemed will go to be with Him in verses 38-41.

Verses 42-47 tell us to watch, wait, and be ready for His returning.

Verses 48 to the end of the chapter warn about those evil servants who as in the days of Aaron and the Golden Calf were worshipping false gods, feasting, drinking and living a life of debauchery. Jesus says they will cut them off and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
