I Thank My God Through Jesus Christ,
Paul goes on after that by scolding those who have not
yet accepted the gospel. The righteous will live by faith
he says. But for the ones that did not accept the Gospel,
they were the ones who knew God did not glorify Him nor
did they give thanks to Him but instead grasped a life of
futility and disillusionment. Paul did not have anything
against knowledge, knowledge in God is of course a good
thing. He just disapproved of those who made knowledge
their God. The law became their focus and God was left
behind. Jesus Himself said he who comes to me comes
to eternal life. Jesus was mostly speaking to those who
were not accepting Him as being the son of God. So to
know God He says, you need to see me and who I am
and what I do and if you don't believe in me then you are
not believing the Father. So we don't come to believe in
eternal life from God directly but rather we come to have
eternal life by believing Jesus first as He leads us to the
Father.
