As I walk these roads where I've never been.
These sidewalks on avenues I've never seen.
Wondering why, it is like this,
Comfort in new places, even new faces
Is love supposed to be like this.
Shouldn't there be anger,
Shouldn't there be angst,
Or thoughts of yelling.
Aren't those the things, that make up love.
If I'm missing them, am I missing love.
My mind turns to Jesus and they're all gone.
I have the sweetness of warmth breath
On my mind, not only today
But all the time.
And the softness of a kitten upon my knee,
Stretching and sleeping and purring
Opening an eye, now and then.
And resting in comforting peace,
Upon a mind vacant of fear.
The further I walk, the further I go,
Into a heart of silk and gold.
