It would probably be closer to the truth that most men / women do not even realized what it mean to be saved. As far as speaking with the authority God there would be many that would be skeptical of such a claim, even if the claim happens to be true. Nothing wrong with honest spirited debate on many subjects especially in the Bible Discussion Forum. Yeah, there's some arguing going on there too but that's just the nature of the beast. You were right in saying that it's not our place to judge though.

Men will always be men but some subjects just dont deserve to be debated in this day and age.
You either belong to him or you dont there is nothing wrong with debating the truth between his people.
God Bless!! But out right lies are not profitable to engage in. I guess the problem is how and when to know the different

Well stated. :)

The Apostle Saint Paul's Epistle to the Galatians chapter 6
6 Brethren, even if a man be overtaken [a]in any trespass, ye who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man thinketh himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let each man prove his own work, and then shall he have his glorying in regard of himself alone, and not of [b]his neighbor. 5 For each man shall bear his own [c]burden.

6 But let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 So then, [d]as we have opportunity, let us work that which is good toward all men, and especially toward them that are of the household of the faith.

11 See with how large letters I [e]write unto you with mine own hand. 12 As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they compel you to be circumcised; only that they may not be persecuted [f]for the cross of Christ. 13 For not even they who [g]receive circumcision do themselves keep the law; but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. 14 But far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through [h]which the world hath been crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new [i]creature. 16 And as many as shall walk by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

17 Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear branded on my body the marks of Jesus.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.

It would seem to be the rule for Christian community sites and their BDF that passions run high in such discussions. I think it is because we believe passionately in what we believe the word says and because that then becomes part of our identity as members of Christ and His church.
While also I don't think it is impossible for the BDF to be a beacon also for those who are contentious against the very faith we cherish. And those of that mind and leading enter in to stir trouble or to cause unrest among a people that they're told should live in their peace in the word of our Father.
I do not think it wrong to identify such one's as that who enter in among us. Else, why would the scriptures warn to be aware of those who clad as sheep are inwardly ravenous wolves?

God is the author of reality and creation so everything in creation has a true answer, a false answer or a no one knows answer.

Debate is good as it weeds out views that are false about reality. A false view of reality can lead to faulty thinking.

Or as they say bad logic leads to bad philosophy, which in turn leads to bad theology.

If our logic and reasoning skills are poor we can come to confusing conclusions.

To discern between good beliefs and bad beliefs it takes judgment to do so.

Acts 15
The Council at Jerusalem
15 Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

Acts 15
6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

(But all this took right judgment)

John 7:24
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

What is right comes from God.

Matthew 7

5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

(We shouldn't judge hypocritically)

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.

( Recognizing them by their fruit takes judging)

2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.

( It takes judgment to know when to correct, rebuke or encourage.)

Galatians 2:11-14
Peter (Cephas) Opposed by Paul
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision. 13 The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?

(Paul had to make a judgment in order to call out Peter)

Judgement of the soul should always be left up to God. We just have to be spiritually awakened enough to see the issues that are important like issues that can hurt others, or lead them to Hell. Those issues should be stood strongly against. While others are okay or even fun to debate but those we shouldn't never divide over.

In any debate though the Christian is still called to be moral and respectful.

Corresponding to names on a computer diminishes the human aspect of discussion, hence why such snarky attitudes are often prevalent. My problem is I’m good at meeting snarky attitudes with more snark.

ROM. 1:29.
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness;
full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30.
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31.
Without understanding, covenabreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32.
Who knowing the Judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death,
not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Great topic!

What is wonderful about on-line is it is a melting pot of personalities. Now I am not of the easily offended.... I am more of "just say it like it kind of person".... Some like me, some hate me, some do not know how to take me...lol.... One of my sisters has 5 children, Charlie the 2ed middle, is plain spoken, like me. My sister always apologies for him; I told her to stop it.... He is my favorite... at 10 years old he has guts enough to tell it like it is in plain english....lol....

I love to debate, it actually stimulates me/ my brain. I will come to believe what I believe more deeply or I will change my mind because I come to realize I am wrong.

I don't like what a lot of people have to say... I throw it out like garbage.... (I'm sure I rub off the same way.... I am not Mides...lol.... (get the funny Greek mythology on a Christian site... who will I offiend...lol...lol... But I am finding out there are times to "glenn"... And if you (general you) are on a website why can there not be fun, seriousness, kindness, and fights... isn't that dealing with the human race? Shouldn't "Christians" want to talk to fallen people more than anyone!?!
