Lately I've been having a bit of a discouraging time, so I decided to go to the Word of God for a little comfort. Sometimes I like to reflect on verses that have helped me along my Christian journey. Id like to share a few and how they have helped me .

Years ago, I battled doubts in my mind everyday about my salvation. Some reason this verse has always comforted my heart.

Hebrews 11:6 But without FAITH it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God MUST believe that he is, and that he IS a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

When I am lonely...

Hebrews 13:5

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

When I feel unloved....

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 8: 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I have more, but I'd be interested in hearing some from you. Please feel free to share any verses that have gotten you through some tough times , or maybe just a verse thats special to you.

Love you all ♡

Hi Pipp,
One of my top verses is Romans 8:35-39 That you quoted above.
So powerful!

Also, when I get discouraged because of all the ways that I have failed and sinned in my life, Psalms 103 is a comfort to me.

Interestingly enough, I was meeting with my pastor last night and he read me a passage from deuteronomy.
The whole passage was comforting, but verse 5 kind of convicted me further about my fathering my children. I need to try better to model my Father in heaven to them through my parenting and less of my selfish wants.
Deuteronomy 8:1–5 (ESV): 8 “The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.

Jeremiah 15:16 keeps me back in the word. So many verses help me and have found them actively comforting me.

Be strong and of a good courage: (Joshua 1:6a)

1. strong: able to withstand great force or pressure.
2. courageous: not deterred by danger or pain.

This verse got me through many situations where not only I needed to be strong to withstand pressure/stress, but also be able to move forward by not being deterred by pressure/stress/pain at the same time.

Psalm 139:14 has been one of my go tos for when I am feeling down on myself:

14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.

When I'm discouraged I go through principles of time management from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.

But... probably everyone does that.

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
(Psalms 43:5 NIV)

I love the King James version:

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

I love this post! There is no better place to go for encouragement than the word of God. The Lord really brings a lot of peace through it.

Tonight I heard this song on the radio and it made me cry so much. It reminded me that the things that we go through, though not always fun or easy, there is a purpose.

Ephesians 1:11
11 In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

Hebrews 10:36
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Joshua 1:9 It is a great reminder for me of how we (myself) should live my life. Proverbs in general has very many uplifting good reminders like to trust in the Lord and to not learn on our own understanding. As he who knows everything surely knows what needs to be done and When to do so.
On a side note, first day on here. I have been kicking back, reading ya'll posting and taking much enjoyment, comfort, laughter and good thoughts on a great many topics. I got on here today and thought "Why have I not joined up and added to the great works being done here...so, thus I have arrived, lol. : )
