The underlying belief you hold is that you belong to the audience that those passages were written to.

That is understandable. By way of contrast, When you read about God directing Noah to build an ark, you however know it’s not directed to you, but you can learn lessons from it.

Jesus makes it clear, eyt you refuse to accept His message is for all people.
