I am not a roman catholic.....more a believer in exile! Something can be inspired without being a absolutely perfect. Shakespeare is incredibly inspiring. Scriptures are an incredible record of different people over time as they experienced God. I don't know if when they were writing they thought that what they wrote would end up in a Bible. That developed over time. If it is all infallible then you kind of have to defend the indefensible. For example, the mass muder of men women and children as Israel conquered the holy land; repulsive actions. This shows the danger to me of fanatacism. Or was it all allegorical, a metphor for the journey of the soul? A jewish scholar probably could enlighten us more. What does archaeology say (for instance, professor Israel Finkelstein has done much research in this area)? So to me ( not being an inerrantist) I,m not forced to say, "well God wrote it, so it must be ok to murder people in certain situations". I use reason, contemplation and yes, prayer and meditation to get to the real meaning for me. I can then share with others and see if they resonate with my discoveries.
What's wrong with the Israelites conquering the Promise Land?

Sounds like you are just trying to explain away the plain truth of the Bible with modern lenses of whats considered "civil". Israel taking out the pagans is a metaphor for journey of the soul? Bwahahaha! THATS A NEW ONE.

You cant handle God! You just cant. That tells me you got some problems right there. Toughen up! God indeed commanded the israelites to WIPE AWAY those nations, AMEN buddy. And guess what, one of these days the LORD Jesus HIMSELF will return and wipe people out PERSONALLY. Take a good look at that in the book of Revelation.

If you deny the OT as literal and think its just some allegories then you are on a slippery slope! This soft liberal attitude of, "ooh no, God took some people out, no way, my heavenly daddy loves people God would never do that, its never right to take a life in any circumstances" <- Tells me you aint lived enough. Try telling that to someone who has a burglar come to their house at night, ANY MAN worth his weight in salt will DEFEND his family against any threats.
Try telling that to someone locked up in pelican bay, WONT WORK, you gotta follow the politics if you want to remain General population and walk the yard!

What you're trying to preach just isnt realistic, LIFE IS TOUGH and sometimes drastic measures are taken by God take a look at Noah's flood, or is that also a metaphor?

You are not contemplating, meditating and praying, you are instead inventing, re-interpreting and twisting what God said to fit your 21st century SOFT mind thats been infiltrated by "civilized society" propaganda and humanist values. No go! I forbid you from believing this nonsense. Return to the Bible truth AT ONCE.

The Bible is either God's word, inspired by the Holy Ghost with NO ERRORS and you believe it AS IS, or you dont, and if you dont, STOP QUOTING IT. Looks like your beliefs line up more with buddhism than Christianity. Only the LORD GOD Himself can reach down to your soul and open your eyes to the truth I CANT do that. All I can do is POP OFF and write in a harsh manner so that the OTHERS reading wont be deceived!!
I,m sure the Islamic terrorists of Isis would agree with you. Except on biblical inerrancy obviously!

Whats wrong? Thou shalt do no murder. Love they neighbour as thyself. If someone says God has told them to murder people we lock them in a psychiatric ward. We don't think they are inspired by God in any way.

Difference is God doesn't command Christians to go and conquer people where as Allah does to his followers.

God brought judgment on the tribes and cities in the promise land as God saw they was wicked and evil filled with every type of evil. Worshipping others gods and sacrificing children and others to these false gods.

Bwahahaha. You do know that the Commandments God gave on the mountain were to Israel? A covenant relationship, Israel and God. God made NO SUCH COVENANT with the other nations.

Today God has redeemed a people from all nations tribes and tongues (rev 5:5 unless you dont believe that either)

Could you give us a list of which parts of the Bible do you believe are true and which are not? HOw do you decide? My guess whatever you like is right, whatever you disagree with is wrong.
Boy i'd like to hear your eschatology, is Jesus ever returning? Whats He gonna do? Hug people to the Kingdom?

So the answer to people sacrificing children to a god is to kill all their children?! Come on Roughsoul, where is your humanity? This is the conundrum you get into with this biblical inerrancy, literalism

^God gives life and owns us. You cant tell God what to do. God is sovereign. Thats what happens when you let the wishywashy humanist theology take over. Product on display!

Keep it biblical keep it real. GOD runs it how He wants to run it. My life isnt worth 50cents anyway!

Are you sure it does? What if thats also an error? Why do you believe that verse but not the other ones? How do you pick and choose? How can you ever be consistent.

With the way you're speaking I wouldn't be surprised if you would be pro-sodomite and pro-abortion as well, is that the case yes or no? Love your neighbor means accept all forms of sinful behavior in the liberal world dont it? It sure does!

The story of Jesus I find inspiring and beautiful. It is meaningful and speaks to my heart. I use my own judgement, reason and contemplation to decide; I ask God to guide me. It takes time and effort. A story doesn't have to be inerrant in every detail to be meaningful. Why should it? I,m sharing what I think and feel.....thats all......I claim no divine sanction for you to live your lives. If you find it useful then great, if not then fine. Its good to share, right?

Stop being so friendly and soft! Call me names rather. Using your own judgment = Making it up as you go along.

Thanks. I can make my own religion now too! Oh and 2pac is a famous rapper who always said "only God can judge me"

Well first off not everyone was killed off because descendants was left over to attack the Israelites in future generations. Is it murder if God decides to bring judgment? God commanded it so is God evil? How do you know if children was killed?

A child can be any age up until the considered adulthood. A child can be 13 and just as morally evil.

Here is just one passage out of a number I could mention. 1 Samuel 15:3. It mentions the killing of infants, aswell as the sheep and cattle. So all the innocents die because "God" commands it.....if you believe it is inerrant. I wouldn't murder children who were troubled. Social services are more compassionate than the creator....if you believe it is literal and without error

You are just looking at everything from the HUMANINISTIC point of view. You dont view humans as evil devil sinners as God does. Stop the man-centered theology and move to a GOD-centered theology.

You are the Romans 9:20 man.....
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

DONT TALK BACK TO GOD. He is God, WE are not. Our job is to be humble and keep our MOUTH SHUT, obey the Gospel and bear fruit for God's kingdom.

Also in the last plaque against Pharaoh was the killing of all first born children.

But again is it murder when God who creates life decides to end life?

Each of these commands are no error but direct commands from God.

Your making a moral judgment about the creator of morality. Basically saying you would of been more compassionate or more loving with your finite knowledge of how evil these people where. For all you know God could forsee the future of these kids and the only hope for soul salvation was to remove them before they gained the knowledge of sin.

After all God is in the business of soul salvation not longevity on Earth.
