Then and Now

So many changes have taken place since my childhood and young adulthood.

From the 1940's through and including the 1980's it was unheard of in almost all denominations to teach that the Sabbath of the Lord, the Seventh Day, has been changed to the first day of the week according to the Biblical calendar.

Even though we worshiped on Sunday, it was no question ever that the Seventh Day of Creation d represented the day given each of us as a special day to remember how all began.

It seems the vote of the majority has taken the place of the Word of God. This is very sad, for that majority. May all be blessed with the peace of Jesus, Yeshua, who believe God before the majority vote.

Seek and ye shall find are the keywords here. I grew up in the 60s as well and yes, there was never any way to find out things like you can nowadays. In present times though, the light is given to all to see clearly if they only look.


Because of the internet “the Gospel is preached to the whole world” in any language, anytime of day or night at people's fingertips within seconds. They don't even need to own a Bible to find out. But millions can't be bothered. have a lukewarm "Laodicean" way of doing things, as they don't seem interested in the truth. Presumably, God is going to puke them out of his mouth as they are neither hot nor cold. As Bob Dylan said, "you can stand for the Devil or you can stand for the Lord but you gotta stand for something". Even if they do not read or research Scripture or the internet for the Truth, the Jews still celebrate the Sabbath which should be an indicator its the correct day and many languages should raise a red flag on what the Sabbath is (Spanish/Sabado and Italian Sabato) etc. Reading Scripture should also raise a red flag on this because "they thought to change times and seasons".


It doesn't take much research to find out that the Sabbath was changed by the Catholic Church as it states it clearly in their own historic literature, despite this going against Scripture.

They ignore Scripture and state this instead.

“And the act is a mark of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things” (H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons).

Compare this to

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5)


This is similar to the “rapture” of those that believe in the Hollywood version of the “Left Behind” series. When in fact, the Rapture doctrine was invented by John Nelson Darby in 1830 from Portsmouth, England. Even worse, is the “Last Disciple” series, claiming that the Second Coming had already happened under Nero. It is most unfortunate that over 60 million people bought this book in the first year of its publication.


There seems to be a trap here - a dangerous trap for the lazy who do not seek out the truth and blindly go on the Broadway (which seems right to a man) but actually leads to the wrong place indeed.


I guess the reason is, those that do not seek the truth but rely on second hand information or even “run with the crowd” will never check out the truth, even though it is easy to see it there plain and simple. Once the truth is found, it leads to other red flags and should make any true believer question whose flock they belong to.

There will be many false prophets indeed but seek and ye shall find.

If the topic is about the Sabbath I just had a discussion about it today.

I hold fast to Romans 14:5 in this.


But to actually practice honoring the Sabbath it seems to me that Saturday requires the most sacrifices somehow. I think it has been laid individually on certain people's hearts and it is a blessing that can be missed or not. It has some cool promises that I believe translate to today but I don't find it critical to salvation...just a blessing like I said. To follow legalism and living under the law has caused Sabbath adherence to be a stumbling block for me in the past. It's a consecrated time to spend with the Lord. To listen and to abide. It's not anything more than that to me at present.

Lord knows we need all the blessings we can get in today's world.

Hey Mii. This is true indeed. Jesus even pointed this out on Sabbath keeping, saying "is it wrong to heal on the Sabbath"? Because many have to work, look after elderly people or sick people and cannot keep it as they would like. But man is Lord of the Sabbath and not the Sabbath Lord over man. In previous times, the people in Jesus day were making all sorts of ridiculous rules for the Sabbath which were unbearable (the man who was healed was not even supposed to lift his bed) yet, it was supposed to be a day of rest as God rested on that day after the creation. If we cannot keep it, we cannot keep it as we are often torn between two things - but being Lord of the Sabbath means its a heartfelt thing - not a law to keep and forget the sick, elderly or work for shelter and food in these present times. Even Doctors and Nurses have to work on the Sabbath or God forbid what would happen if they didnt.

I believe the expression "to keep the Sabbath" comes complete loaded with the accusation of being under the law or however people are construing it.

I prefer saying I observe the Sabbath on the day given me by our Father, all the while realizing it is perfectly fine to worship Him any day of the week. I believe we do that seven days a wekk, so this has no bearing on accepting the personal gift to all who will accept it to be with our Maker and rest with Him from our mudane work........

My personal and exclusive burden is thanking Him for providing all that is and enjoyig His Presence within……..oh, that is no burden, I think it more gratitude.

My main beef with others who oppose this is they do not allow all to worship as the Father has led them . I know their arguments against the Seventh Day Gift are not from the Word, but from men. I leave them alone, except when the fault others for hearing God on the subject, then I get a little protective of the family practic.e

God wrote down the Sabbath with His own finger.... I say if God wrote it Himself, well He means it, it cannot be said "man" wrote it so it may not really be the 7th day.... Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 31:18 When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.





I can by into the day of worship being on Sunday, when the Lord rose. But His rising from the grave is not the Day God rested from creation so the Sabbath did not change!!!! To rest Fri. sundown to Sat. sundown is our testimony we believe Creator God..... Created in 6 days rested on the 7th.! God Himself thinks He created in 6 literal days.... He wrote it with His finger.... Shouldn't we!?!

There are so many christians that do not believe the testimony of Scripture or God Himself, 6 literal days.... sadly....

We work to help people with their needs every day, for God does not rest to help people, and the sabbath was to cease work for a person's self interest and gain, but to help people they could work for that, which is why Jesus pointed out it is good to do good on the Sabbath such as Him healing a person, and if a person has an animal that falls in to a hole will you not help them get the animal out.

I believe this was a specific event, and even as it states, though a specific event, it was on the first day of the weekd, not on the seventh day, which cannot be changed.

If you look around note different groups meet to worhips on different days, while most worhip any day of the week. The order of the days of the week Iaccording to our Father have not been altered by God.
