Hello, hello everyone! I own pets, and now I have a new one. I did my research on birds about extra large flight cages, the importance of diets (fresh food with TOPs brand or BirdtTricks recommendations are the best), I've learned hormones cause birds to be crazy, and I've watched lots of the YouTube channel called BirdTricks (professional bird behaviorists). I've already owned parakeets (budgies), but now I've finally bought a baby cockatiel....

My new baby friend will need a name! :D

Since most of you might not be bird people, here is some added information about the bird...
It is a DNA tested Male, and his colors are called cinnamon and white, his patterns are called pied (the white areas without color), and pearl (the patterns on his wings). Because it is a Male, HE WILL NOT KEEP THE PATTERNS ON HIS WINGS, the adult feathers will likely become a solid cinnamon color. Overall, the bird is probably going to become more cinnamon and less white, so it's better to not name him after the patterns on his wings, nor all his white coloring, as he might not be keeping his current appearance as he gets older.
(To anyone who does know birds, his mother was a white face cinnamon pearl, his father was a white face pied, and all of his siblings are white face, pearl, pieds. When it comes to his possible changing appearance, he may or may not be stronger in the pearl genes or stronger in the pied genes, his breeders are saying no one will know until after his molts.)

Here are pictures of my baby boy, who is still at the breeders....

The First time I met him! <3

A little bit older here, he wanted a nap, but he wasn't sure about this thing called a "camera". lol. o_O:confused:

Yeah... he's not going to keep all the white, but the changes to come, nobody knows.

Cockatiels love shoulders and being on top of heads, luckily he has not found the top of my head yet. :poop:

(Disclaimer: NEVER buy an animal without doing lots of research on proper habitats, diets, understanding that pets are expensive, and they are not toys. Pets are cute but they require having needs met, when needs aren't met, it is called neglect. If you want cute without responsibilities, try decorative or cute stuffed animals, or nintendogs, ;). Thank You.)

He looks like a Pete. Not Peter, just Pete.

Or Timothy.

we both love all kinds of birds and have had many unique experiences with a myriad of them -
we even used to 'bird-sit' in our home -

many, many years ago Hub and I adopted a male cockatiel - I quickly became the main focus
of his little feathery world - it got to the point that I couldn't even go to the bathroom without
him flying onto my head - I think he preened me as much as he did himself, and he was quite vocal -
we eventually cut his wing and he became a champion sprinter, chasing after me where ever I went -
lots of entertaining and funny-fun times, but eventually a good friend of mine had a young daughter who really
wanted to adopt him and I consented -
it worked out very well, and yes, I did feel a kind of relief without those little legs continually chasing after me, but
it was all worth the experience, for all three of us...
:):)

enjoy the many happy times to come!...

I have better food.

Although... I used to have a black-and-white cat named Nancia who was a mighty huntress. She would kill all manner of wildlife, mice, moles, lizards, squirrels, even a rabbit, and lay them all at the back door. But when she killed birds she ate them on the spot. And I noticed when she was eating her kill, it smelled better than the freshest ground beef you can buy. I got the impression she was eating better than I was.

Noting that the Lynx didn't name the bird, "lunch". ;)

I'm excited about my pets, I'm not so fond of the jokes that went into topics of death. I'm not interested in the sad details of the cycles of life right now. (Don't worry, I might love pets but I do have fair understandings of the nature of earth, but I look forward to the harmony of Heaven.) Thank you.

If we could please keep this thread more happy, I would love to hear more name suggestions. Thanks! :)

I appreciate the name ideas. :)
And my baby bird thanks you for the picture complements!

I've had budgies for a while, I'm happy to have a cockatiel now. My baby is from a bird shop that breeds and hand raises their birds, which helps the birds be more social if handled with positive actions. With birds as pets it's all about trust, a bird has to be coaxed and shown lots of gentleness, and then they will warm up to their human companions, and us humans then have to maintain ourselves of staying patient to maintain that trust. When birds are treated properly, they have less fear (or fear aggression), less biting, and overall better temperaments. With help from the YouTube channels BirdTricks (the professional bird behaviorists) and Marlene Mc'Cohen (a youtuber who's sort of a bird celebrity), I really hope to develop a wonderful relationship with my cockatiel! :giggle:

Sir Squawks?

I get a funny kick out of doing names that rhyme with the animal/creature.

Harry the horse
Terry the turtle.

Digbert the dog.

Barry the bird?

I haven't ever attempted to name birds. Cool post though :)
