If you are suggesting the barter system is better than the capitalist system, in theory yes it is. But is it possible? If the barter system was done on earth, much in the way of the 1930s film “Our Daily Bread”, where goods are made for use instead of profit, then that would truly be the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
But the capitalist system is not for the good will of men on earth and egalitarianism, but for profit right now, so how do you suggest people live without money? Do you? How?
All the while there are corrupt men on earth, who are in power and are greedy, this isn't possible. Even if you lived on a small holding and produced things just for your own family, you have to pay taxes justs to live in a house? I am not saying the barter system isn't right - I am saying that money is needed on earth to live and if no one needed money, then the Kingdom of Heaven has come.
During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the man and true socialist (and idealist) Upton Sinclair tried to introduce this system, because people were starving, while the capitalist system told farmers to set fire to fields of crops, oranges, wheat etc, due to overproduction while the poor rifled through bins for food - obviously morally wrong and disgusting. Profit is put before the goodwill of men on earth and to “keep the books” right in the capitalist system they would rather waste food then feed the world. It might be a “Beast System” but there are those that benefit from that and are greedy. The poor may always be with us, but the greedy are even more evident.
There were empty houses while there were homeless. There was plenty of food rotting while people starved. Yes we would all like to see how people trade goods for no money, but that takes cooperation, community and good will amongst men and women being led by common sense. But Upton Sinclair failed as the propaganda and smear campaign against him was so horrific that it put fear into people while his “idea” was basically a simple one, but one in which the capitalists and rich of the world would never allow. The last thing they wanted is for men to make things for themselves, cutting out the “landlords”.
Anyone who can find the film “Our Daily Bread” would do well to watch it - but it really is the Kingdom of Heaven on earth if the whole world was like this as its obvious there is enough resources in the world for everybody - it's just the distribution of the wealth of the earth that is wrong, not because there isn't enough. Solomon was told not to build up wealth and many horses but he did - the next generation after him were bankrupt.
Having said that, there are a few small towns in Europe that do the barter system and it goes on with people under the radar - not as a system everyone recognises but only as a “help” to get away from the system - not completely as they all need stuff and resources cost money.
And if you are suggesting that people can live without money - then tell me how you get “set up” to do this without the cooperation of others around to produce this model, as people need to heat their houses, pay taxes and work for money to do those things. In order to live off the land, you need your own house and land to start with. This isn't free?
They still need police, medical services, rubbish disposal and industry is the only thing that provides that. Do you think that the economic current system of the world is going to be dumped willingly? There maybe a few I know who have tried this, set up small holdings, home schooling, make their own clothes and live off the land but usually they need money for things in the end as they usually need help for something and “help” isn't free unless people get paid (unless the Kingdom of Heaven is on Earth). They usually quit and have to get a job out of desperation unless they live very very simply and usually basically.
Show me one example of any place that lives without money that hasn't been shut down by the capitalists? Even Jesus said to give to Caesar what is Caesars?
Much as “living without money” is a wonderful concept - its idealism and I say to you that this is when the Kingdom of Heaven comes down to Earth and not before as it takes all men to use common sense, common interest, good will toward one and another and above all co-operation and where is that in the world now? Anyone that has tried this before, through all the will in the world has been smeared as a communist, revolutionary or troublemaker as there are too many greedy people in the world who want to keep hold of all their wealth and power while others go without. Satan runs this place and until the Kingdom comes to earth there will always be greed in power.
I have a fair idea what the beast is in people's right hand and on their forehead as its obvious but I wouldn't dare to say.
I wish we did have the barter system - but there is only one question in all politics and all economic systems as they would all work if they were done correctly. The one question is how do you stop corruption? God knows.
If you think “money” or paper money or fiat money is the beast, then that would wipe out most people on earth as being eligible for salvation as we all need money to live. How do you pay for your internet or phone to even post on this forum? Do you trade apples and oranges with your internet provider? Isn't a labourer worth his pay?
This film was banned in California after Upton Sinclair put himself up for Governor of California in the 1930s as the Establishment didn't want the farmers getting any ideas of making things for use and not for profit.
