Horses first. Racehorses. Theres a horse here called Winx. She was so far ahead of the others it wasnt funny. What a superstar! Its natural for us to put her on a pedestal. Maybe she is the best ever. In Australia anyway.
As good as she is, she needed the others. She needed them to be slower.
I used to be a good sprinter. I cleaned up school athletic carnivals winning several events. Champion 3 years in a row. But now I need to show gratitude. Gratitude to the slower runners. To the runners up.
Winners need losers. Winners and champions need to acknowledge their God given talent too. Life us not all about winning. Its about humility and gratitude.

It is awesome when we become aware of the things and people that bolster us. It is ALWAYS good to give praise when it is in the power of your hand to do so!
Proverbs 3:27
Do not withhold good from those whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.

When they gave Secretariat a necropsy, they discovered his heart was abnormally large, which was one of the reasons he was able to run so fast, because his aerobic stamina was enhanced by his heart's ability to pump such large volumes of blood through his lungs to be oxygenated, keeping his muscle endurance at peak performance :D

i often think about 2nd tier professional sportsplayers. By that I mean don't quite become world champions but compete at elite level.
Here is an example. Kei Nishikori. A brilliant Japanese tennis player. But because he played in the era of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, some may never have heard of him. of course in the tennis world he would be highly respected but doesn't become a "household name." Players like him are champions in my estimation by just reaching elite level. yet how frustrated he must feel to never win a major.

a freak. Apparently "Frankl" was a freak too.
Winx is known to have a superior engine. Her gait is explosive and she can maintain it for a long time. When she passes other horses she just appears to be idling, her head not moving, under no stress. yet other horses are visibly stressed as are the jockeys who are showing the whip. I hardly ever saw the whip being used on Winx.

A monkey dosn't have to faster than the lion just faster than the slower monkeys.

Honestly I never thought of that!! It’s so ingrained in our culture (ESPECIALLY here in America) to gloat over those who have fallen behind us. But I never thought about how much grace the losers had to be. Goodness I even have it myself!! Instead of saying “those who didn’t make it first” or something else I immoderately went to “loser.” Yeesh.

Very good point. I've heard too often that 2nd place means that you are the first loser. What a terrible way to look at things. I heard a great story once of two teams of children, both with special needs athletes. After the game, one of the boys, from the team that didn't win, was running around yelling, "We're number one. We're number one." One of the coaches went over to the boy and explained that they didn't win. The boy stopped and then suddenly broke out in a big smile. He started running around and yelling, "We're number two. We're number two!" I love that story. May we celebrate all together.
