But if, and that's a big if, they would have followed those laws with LOVE, and would have taken them not so much so 'literally" and took them into their heart to find the love of God, they would have found Christ within them. But they didn't. They looked at the letter, or the words and didn't find the meaning behind them or the love they would have produced if they had. It is like taking the New Covenant and just seeing the WORDS, and their "technical, correctly tensed verbs etc." and not allowing the Forgiving Spirit to be found in them of them which is to walk easily, comfortable, peacefully, lovingly, fearlessly, IN THE WAYS OF GOD, not in OUR OWN imaginations of what WE THINK He wants, or what we want to do. God tells us we are sinners. I guess He knows we are breaking the law. One solution is to say "there is no law I am to follow" except that can't be because that would make you sinless and that would make Gods Word a lie. So there has to be law to follow to be a sinner. So to be a sinner I have to TRY, so that I can sin, so I can repent, so I can be forgiven, so that ALL THE WORK CHRIST DID was not for naught, so I can become disciplined IN HIS WAYS, not my own. There is nothing I am do think or do without God. I can have not a single thought or way better than Gods.

When I break a law, I GO TO CHRIST, and the work He did while living in the flesh, FREES ME from having TO BE perfect. I can walk in the love of God with no fear of stumbling WHICH ALLOWS ME TO give it my ALL without fear of failure or reprisal. I am free to become as holy as I can by DOING IT HIS WAY, not my own. HIS way is at war with my flesh and He knows it. He knows I will fall, so like a spotter to a gymnast, He is there to catch me and lift me back up and set me on the path.

When your dad was raising you, did he give you rules to keep you safe and make you grow up to become a good person? God I hope so. Did you learn to do those things to keep him happy?
