I only would like to lose less than 20 lbs, but saw a brief presentation on the keto diet and it seemed to make a lot of sense .

The basis of it is to switch the fuel your body burns from the glucose in carbs to the fat you have stored in your body. When this occurs it's called ketosis. I like the idea of running your body on the stored fat, rather than on continuous sugar from carbs.

Anyone try this have thoughts on this way of eating?

I've tried it, and in the beginning phases I definitely experienced flu like symptoms. My goal was not to lose weight but to have more stable energy levels. I did lose a little bit of weight, but I workout regularly and, again, I don't really have weight loss as my goal. While I don't stick to strictly Keto anymore, I have decreased my carb and sugar intake by a lot. I find that I crave carbs and sugar less and less as well, but I allow myself to eat them when I do. I generally feel better and have more energy when eating a mostly Keto like diet.

It is true that water helps you lose weight and i have to say it doubles the progress. So i would suggest drinking 2 liters of water a day :) I hope you lose the weight :)

Hello @PennEd, I cannot speak from experience, but many at church and in my Bible study are using this diet successfully and are very happy with it (both with their weight loss and/or with how they feel).

Like every other radical or fad diet however, the problem that occurs isn't with the diet itself, the problem happens when people go off the diet and gain all the weight that they lost back (and then some). This has already proven to be a problem for some of the Keto users in church (well, former Keto users, I guess you could say), especially the ones who lost a huge amount of weight over a very short period of time. Perhaps losing weight more slowly would be a better idea, or perhaps losing a smaller amount of weight quickly (say 10-20 lbs) and then intentionally stopping the weight loss altogether (plateauing) for a few weeks/months, to allow your mind to begin seeing your new, slightly lower weight, as your body's new "norm", would work?

The Keto users at church who have remained successful are the ones who are still on the diet. Do the Keto folks address this problem, or is Keto meant to be a forever lifestyle diet change?

Thanks!

I wouldn't do any diet where I have to cut out fruit or carrots. Hard pass.

I am doing (Keto) intermittent fasting and it is been 2 weeks now yay I lose almost 5 Kilograms already 😇😇😇

I am slow because I don't eat pork 😥 I tried and ate like (500grams) bacon in my first week but I never tried again I am doing intermittent fasting and keto diet for less than3 weeks now I get slower because I cheated many times 😥

I eat salmon,tuna,prawns and chicken
Spinach, asparagus, sweet potato leaves, kale, bitter gourd and other leafy veggies.

Whipping cream,apple cider vinegar,olive oil,butter cheese

I eat berries(they say it is better not to)

Water,lemon water,coffee,tea (no sugar)

Cakes,ice creams and other delicacies (don't )

Grains,legumes (no)
Pasta,noodles and rice(no, also)
Bread

Root crops like carrots, potato, sweet potato etc (are not allowed also)
You can use coconut flour if u want to bake a bread...or almond flour....but I use coconut flour

I forgot many things to include but I watch on YouTube to learn some more Infos.

But it is effective 👍

And sir PennEd it is best that you talk to your doctor first before starting a Keto diet plan if you have known health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure etc... 😊

The only thing I know about kilos is that's the measurement drug dealers use in the movies! Metric never took here in the states. I had to look it up and use a calculator to see that you lost 11 pounds! Awesome job.

I don't think I have heart disease, but I do have high blood pressure, but because I'm a dumb guy, I didn't check with my Dr.

Like I said earlier. I don't really need to lose much. It's more about getting and staying in better shape. Couple of things I haven't quite given up. Like flavored cream in my coffee. Can't do coffee unless it's light AND sweet. Also, unless I'm really thirsty, water is BLAH! for me. I force about 16 ounces a day. Still trying to shake the desire for sweetened Iced Tea, or soda.

Thanks for the informative video.

You are welcome sir PennEd ❤

I don't need much to lose also I just want to reach my ideal weight based on my height 😁 I am not so big but according to my BMI I am overweight 😊

I am sorry... I thought most countries in the world use kilograms 🤔 and pound is a unit of currency specially in the U.K my bad 😳

Of course you are not d____ 😮 I am sorry I was just worried because I know heart problems or high blood pressure should not be taken lightly 😯

Change is hard I understand but slowly you'll get used to it... If you put 1 tbsp of sugar cut it back slowly...I've done that from coffee/tea with sugar to slowly no sugar at all...😊 and I also totally gave up eating McDonald's Oreo ice cream mcflurry You'll fall out a few times but don't feel bad about it get right back on track. 😊 You can do it sir PennEd 😊

Prayer helps me also... I pray for motivation to continue of my weight loss goal 😊

Keto is a transition diet. It can and will do damage in the long run. I'm not a big fan of it. No more then 6 months.
Why not just do a lifestyle change that is sustainable and healthy?

Thanks, JD,

this is always and will always be the bottom line for each and every one of us =
those who are addicts, pretenders, liars to themselves, or simply don't love their temples,
for what ever reason...

'heart-breaking and grieving' always' for my brothers and sisters who don't-won't-can't,
and or just choose' not to care or take mature responsibility for healthy-living for the
gift of their God-given-Holy-Temples...

Hi, I know its been a long time since the original post, but wondered how you fared on Keto? are you still doing it now?

Was doing pretty well, and lost about 15 lbs, until the virus junk hit last March, and knocked me off it.

Probably gained about 10 of it back. Going to try again soon. I'm eating waaaay too much sugar and carbs now.

Hi Pen...
Have you looked into the Daniel diet , you can do it for 7 days to kick start your body slowly into a new healthy way of living...
Because I am type 2 diabetic , I went for the plant based eating , made lots of fresh juices and smoothies , a great way to get my fruit and veg in...

I do still eat meat once in a while , but not much...

Have you ever watched the movie Fat , sick and nearly dead , that is a great movie , and also Forks over knives...
...xox...
