Not By Works

Yes. I once quoted Ephesians 2:8,9 to a Roman Catholic and clarified that we are saved by grace through faith, not works and the Roman Catholic responded by saying, "I know that." That same Roman Catholic also denied that Roman Catholicism teaches salvation by works. Then after we discussed it a little deeper, it turns out the Roman Catholic contradicted himself and misinterpreted Ephesians 2:8,9 as such:

Saved by grace through faith "infused" with good works, just not by works of the law.

As you can also see, that Roman Catholic teaches saved by "these" works (good works) and just not "those" works (works of the law). The problem with that logic is you cannot dissect good works from the law. (Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:37-40) That same Roman Catholic also made this statement below:

We ARE saved by faith - as long as you properly define "Faith". Faith is NOT simply "believing". Faith INCLUDES: Being baptized, eating His body and drinking His blood/partaking the Lord's Supper during Mass, works of mercy and charity, obeying his commandments, doing the will of the Father etc..

His argument about faith being defined as and INCLUDES these works above (yet at the same time denying that Roman Catholicism teaches salvation by works) is just sugar coated double talk and equates to salvation through faith (his version of faith) + works.

The context is justification through and through. He's warning them not to become slaves of the law (the old covenant) because SLAVES DO NOT SHARE IN THE INHERITANCE. Slaves are not in line for the inheritance, only sons born by faith are.

Galatians 4:30
"the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”

That's how we know he isn't talking about them falling away from the growth of the believer in sanctification. The sanctification of the believer does not determine whether or not they possesses the inheritance (eternal life). Justification does.

If the discussion goes that way I'll share more about this matter of justification.

In Jewish Law, a verbal contract is LEGAL AND BINDING if you have 2 or 3 witness to the contract. THAT INCLUDES the Father on his death bed choosing the son HE WANTS to INHERIT all that he has; AND IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE AN OFFSPRING. Once Chosen that individual has the right to CALL HIMSELF SON of HELI (or what ever the Father's Name is). AND HE IF HE WANTS TO GIVE IT TO A SLAVE, he can, as long as there are 2 or 3 witnesses.

That is how HELI, Mary's Father ended up CHOOSING JOSEPH, as "SON" of inheritance, on the Mary's Genealogy list. It was illegal for any woman at that TIME in History, to Inherit Property, and HELI only had daughters. So he wanted it to go to MARY, so he had to designate Joseph her husband, THEREFORE JOSEPH had the RIGHT TO CLAIM THE INHERITANCE TITLE, SON of HELI.

There is a Law in ISRAEL, that will allow a SLAVE to become son of the Father. For example: SON of GOD, is NOT a designation of OFFSPRING, but rather the ONE CHOSEN to INHERIT all that the FATHER HAS, including HIS DEITY.

Amen! I have asked numerous works-salvationists in the past just how many works must they accomplish and "add" as a supplement to Christ's finished work of redemption in order to "help" Christ save them? Yet they never seem to have an answer.

*Christ's finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers. *No supplements needed. (Romans 3:24-28)
