When I was single, I was heavily involved at my local assembly. I was doing something with church folk almost every day lol. It was a fun time in life.

Friday nights, after small groups, friends and I would meet up to hang out. We would usually end up at pastor’s house since 2 of my friends were his sons. Pastor’s rule was we had to be out of his house by midnight Lololol!

It isn’t about being a strong independent woman 🤣 A lady can be a married, strong, independent woman. What I’m asking is how to enjoy singleness, man or woman. I mean the subject can be counted toward anyone who has been married before and maybe divorced or their spouse passed. And so on.

I also enjoyed going to lunch with friends after Sunday school service. Then we would hang out again after Sunday night service.

Another thing I really enjoyed was going wherever without having to let anyone know lol. I did live with my parents, but I would just say, “hey I’ll be back in a bit!” I could spend hours at the bookstore without having to check the clock lolol

I guess I stay too busy to dwell on being single. I enjoy my time and my family. Thats all there is to it.

I am like you Pipp. I’ve always been one to not dwell or focus on being single, but just to enjoy it - one of the most rewarding things right now for me is being able to spend precious time with my family, especially my parents. I don’t have anyone atm to share my time with, but when that happens, I am sure I will enjoy it aswell.

I've been single for most of the past 5 years.
One thing i noticed about being in a relationship, is that I had lots of questions to answer all the time. Questions like where I was, who was I with, what was I doing, etc.
I'm much more the type of person who will go for a walk in the park at 3 am to lay in the field and look at the stars. I don't really like having to present my case as to why I'm doing that either.

I've been in relationships where I would have to explain what I was doing, present my case as to why I like doing it and why I want to do it right now, fight for my right to be able to do it, then after I do it stroke her ego for awhile so she's not mad anymore.

Not anymore! I've learned to be comfortable with being myself. If other people are uncomfortable with who I am, that is something they must face themselves.
Hmm... that could be a matter of her being controlling, domineering and suspicious.

OR

It could be a matter of her insisting on the communication and partnership that naturally come with a relationship. When two people function as one unit, it takes a lot of talking, and sometime some explaining.

Of course the "stroke her ego for a while so she's not mad any more" part does indicate the woman was in fact domineering. But it is hard to tell without meeting you and her. And it goes without saying that it's not my place to make a judgment call on the situation anyway - whether it was her being a control freak or you just not being willing to communicate, is not for me to decide. I'm just mentioning this as a possibility to consider.

With the way this thread seems to be going, I think I should make the observation that this is a thread about how to enjoy being single. No need to defend being single here. This is not the "why in the world are you single when there are so many great people to find out there?" thread. We ain't gotta explain nuthin.

So... how do YOU enjoy being single?

I read lots of Christian books, ebooks also
I enrolled in a Pilates class to teach it
I workout, Pilates, hiit
Joined the gym too
I stretch while I listen to podcast
I meditate gods word day and night (this is refreshing)
I dance like no one cares (in privacy of course) as a workout
I do gardening, buy seed and plant it watch it grow and eat it, repeat...
I watch movies
I go out with friends
Hang out with family
Do mission trips
Go to the beach, ride a boat, do water sports
I did tennis class but my coach told me I have to run and catch the ball 😂
Now I am planning to do boxing or Krav maga
I love watching movies and TV series
I try to follow some recipe for vegan dish (this is hard)

Find and list things you like and just do it. ☺️

Yeah, girl. My list over the past 6ish years looks very similar. Trade pickle ball for tennis and CrossFit for boxing. I used to go to the library and check out cook books to try new recipes because I love food and cooking.

I’m also looking at grad school, and I’ve looked at moving internationally. I have to consider my son in these things of course, but I have a bit more flexibility due to being single.
