this passage in the Bible seems like something out of a bad horror movie, or am I imagining it that Jesus kills all those who wage war against him with the sword of his mouth, so this army all drops dead and then all the birds come and eat them.

see Revelation 19:17-21

I mean they arent thrown into the lake of fire or even buried they are just pecked over it seems. At least they arent eaten by lions. God feeds them to the birds instead.

"Buzzerd's gotta eat same as worms." Josey Wales.... 😋
...and I believe that he was an outlaw. The Birdman of Alcatraz knew some stuff about birds too. I believe that he had a canary once who was a jailbird too. The bird died.

Josey? Depends on how folks see things. He did ride with a bad gang. But those he was fighting were no angles. Great movie. Best Western ever IMO

Birdy, another good movie …Nicolas Cage.

Birds like animals, plants and the flesh of mankind are used two ways .One to represent salvation or redemption and the other destruction.

in Genesis 15 they are used as object of faith the unseen innumerable (if thou be able to number them:)

Take a turtledove or pigeon (bird) used to represent redemption or our imputed counted as righteousness. The using fowl that moves to destroy birds. While bird is to observe or identify wild birds in their natural environment and fowl is to hunt fowl.

Genesis 15 :5-12 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. (a picture of salvation .like and the devil fled) And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

Not sure but you might want to compare it with...

And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
(Eze 39:17-20)
