Besides, I think being a grandmother makes the suitors think of some old woman, wearing a worn out bonnet (pun intended)😁.

Meg,

I'm so sorry for chattering away on your thread -- I'll go put myself in the corner in just a few, I promise :), but you have me thinking about a lot of my past experiences in the dating world.

I remember a long time ago, when I actually was about 32 and on a dating site, a gentleman contacted me who was about 50. He seemed very nice, but his messages would go back and forth between rants about his ex-wife to how much he was looking forward to finding a beautiful young lady to be his new companion. It was glaringly obvious that the pain of his divorce was still very fresh, and I wasn't comfortable with the idea of dating someone who was obviously still extremely attached to his ex-wife. This was a whole lot more intimidating to me than his age.

I had to send him a final message trying to gently explain that I didn't see anything happening between us, and in his reply, he wrote something about what his life used to be, and "now I'm just an old man."

I truly felt sorry for him, and said a prayer, because he obviously had a very broken heart.

I just remember feeling extremely sad for him, that he apparently felt his life was over because, in his view, no (young) woman wanted him.
Do no apologize! I value your insight. Poor guy. I would have been turned off by that too really from any guy, at any age.

Bahahaha. Bonnets or bust!
Ouch, you really shouldn’t have said that😁, the letter “s” sometimes can cause so much ruckus whether it’s missing or added to a word😁.

I have a few cougars trying to get their claws into me, I won't lie if I'm thinking about if they are wealthy or not. That's definitely one factor involved in big age gap relationships.
I respect your honesty.

Unfortunately, I've seen some relationships in which gold digging was a factor.

Fortunately, it's also made me aware of the legal steps that should be taken to prevent that, and I would encourage anyone worried about a potential gold-digging situation to take them.

I'm jokingly saying that of course, I mean it crossed my mind but I ain't no gold digger haha. I'd consider an older woman if we had a connection in terms of like interests and if she's taking care of herself physically that doesn't hurt either. Not too old though, there's limits lol

What’s the limit for you?

The ideal is of the same age or small age gap like 2-3 years. Because huge age difference becomes a problem as the couple gets older. One problem is that the energy levels don't match anymore. This problem is more common if the husband is much younger than the wife. It is less common if the husband is much older.

My brother divorced a woman 15 years junior. marriage only lasted 5 years. Lady Diana was 12 years younger than Charles.
Not a fan of big age gaps. Anything over 5 years is a risk in my slightly humble opinion.

I'm 29, so at this point 42ish is probably in the ballpark
Reading these numbers makes me feel like a carton of expired milk.

Just kidding!!!

A long time ago, there was a guy who used to deliver products where I worked who was around my age... And his son asked me out.

Um. WAY too awkward, lol.

I used to be attracted to women my age and much older, however after meeting someone younger, that idea has changed, now its anyone who loves me and vice versa, age, within reason, is irrelevant

Lol...

Well the dad (whom I mentioned in the earlier post) had been bringing his son with him on his route, so that's how the son started talking to me.

When I found out the son's Mom was only like 2 or 3 years older than me, uh... Game over. :)

That's even way too much for ME. o_O

By the way, Blackbeard, welcome to CC!!! Hope to see you joining in on the other threads as well. :)
