I feel my spiritual growth has been stagnant for awhile. I am making a schedule today as It not only helps me to control my anxiety but it helps me to get things done. I plan on setting aside a few hours for scripture and meditation. Alloting my time seems to be the key for distraction I feel the past few years I have simply been trying to not go insane and attempting to squeeze out some sort of joy out of my hobbies. It unfortunately leaves no time for other things. May I ask for suggestions? Like if you have a schedule what do you do with your time? I could use some more ideas.

All I can say is , for the past 12 months or so, I have been the opposite, totally connected to the Lord, to the extent I cannot now sit at my sewing machine for long, I have a longing to go read scripture or sit in prayer. I need balance the other way

Sounds great! I had the experience when I became a Christian. It lasted for a few weeks. I miss it there was not a worry on my mind.

I believe that to achieve meaningful spiritual growth you will have to get out of the house and spend some time in the world. This will give you an opportunity to apply your spiritual knowledge and wisdom that you have already acquired to practical good use. I do like the schedule idea as it will help you develop discipline and strengthen your resolve. There is nothing wrong with squeezing a certain measure of joy from your hobbiies but you still have your life to live.

I'm going to say what every mother has said to her children. Go outside and play. Seriously though, sometimes when we are spinning our mental wheels, we need some green space. We need the change of scenery and to get out of our heads. The colours, fresh air and perspective are made for time with God. We commune with Him. We are able to listen. We are able to be. Sometimes when I am walking, I just look up, and mentally say, "I am here." That is it. I become aware. Everything around me testifies to who God is. It isn't about me. It is freeing.
We were created for relationship with God. All the other stuff, even the good stuff, can get in the way of being with Him. Go walk. Listen. See things in relation to Him and look back. Words aren't necessary. Talk if you want to but don't let it interfere with listening.
Learn to treasure these times with Him. All the best to you brother.

It sounds like you are on the right track to remedy this very important issue. Have you examined how you are studying the Scripture? Are you challenging yourself to grow in your understanding of the historical context of the various periods in which the Bible was written, the cultural backgrounds of the authors, the proper methods of interpretation and application, etc.?

Another way to read the Bible that keeps me growing in my studies is to research topics that are relevant to what is currently happening in my life. Perhaps you know someone that is struggling in a particular area. You may be able to help that person by studying the ways the Bible addresses the topic. Think of ways you can relay what you find to them in a way that will aid them in walking as Jesus walked (1Jn 2:6).

Something that has motivated me so much is listening to some of the great preachers from the past. I listen to Smith Wigglesworth, a man who stated he only read the Bible, not even newspapers.
The depth of his insight is great and am so blest to reap from his years of study and ministry.
Also, prayer time is very important. Becoming familiar with God, Our Heavenly Father, is a good way to prosper in all areas:).

I think joining a study group is my next best bet as I have scruples and reading scripture can be stressful (I did read all of Ecclesiastes and I did fine today which is a good start)

Praying without ceasing, praying in the prayer language we are given by G-d so that we pray for what He knows we need, rather than what we "think" we need has been an ongoing tremendous help to me and all who I know who do so.
Dr. Caroline Leaf has many wonderful teachings on how we were created to do so, and Smith Wigglesworth, Dr. Lester Summrall (SP?) spent a lot of time with him learning and growing in the Lord.

All the old stuff can be helpful, please keep in mind we are no longer under the old covenant, also the gospels were written to tell who Jesus was, after a couple thousand years we pretty much all know who He was. The Acts tell of the early Church and the receiving of Holy Spirit, the church at Corinth was messed up, the Romans, well they were in a messed up society, pretty much James on is about how we are to live today.
I'm not sure I could just up and go to a Bible Sudy unless He directs me to go, meeting like that are like what we have done to church, aimed at the lowest common denominator. Born again, Spirit filled believers need to share with other born again, Spirit filled believers, ask Him where to go for growth in Him, He will never lead us astray.
TabinRiv- Thank you , I see by your posts you are a Spirit filled believer, thank you for being here and posting, I grow from your contributions.
Best wishes
