The Armor
1. Belt of Truth
(14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,)
Armor is typically used to defend the wearers vital parts of the body. The Armor represented in this illustration would have most likely been the Lorica Segmentata as pictured below.
This was the typical armor worn by the Roman soldiers during the 1st and 2nd century AD. By this time in the Roman military, they had a standing army with career soldiers and government issued armor. The legionaries would train all year long and even during peace time.
The belt was used to carry the sword and other items needed by the soldier. The belt is
described as the truth and thus making the Spirit be sheathed into truth. As the sword is
unsheathed out of truth, the Spirit begins to fight.

This truth is absolute and the 100% infallible Word of God or commonly known as the
Bible. This truth doesn’t decay or doesn’t change and will hold till the end of time. Coming to the knowledge of this truth is essential to faith.
"Truth is a funny thing. Many want to be known as followers of the truth, but that same
many subconsciously hope to avoid the consequences of catching it. To apprehend the
truth is to be changed into something we could never have imagined in the fog of our
delusions. It takes true abandonment to faith in the Spirit of Truth to finally become
conformed to His image. Having a vested interest in what the truth is always leads you to
bow before your own image as you peer into that glass darkly. There is no substitute for
taking up the cross that kills all ambition and self-seeking and following that One who said,
"I AM the Truth!" To fall short of this walk is to be forever caught in the lie."-Michael Clark
In the last days, many want to be known as followers of the truth, but that same many
subconsciously hope to avoid the consequences of catching it. The truth will lead to God
and the consequences of being led to God means one must answer for what they do with
that truth.
2 Timothy 3 (NIV)
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of
themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents,
ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not
lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always
learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Our culture, social media, education and the internet are being flooded with ideas,
worldviews, ideologies that build on older thoughts or mix old thoughts to dress them up to be seen as new. We see these in memes, short YouTube videos, or short news articles.
Always learning but never arriving to the truth. Some will read a meme or a short news
article and out of gullibility or even laziness they accept the idea without following it,
researching it, cross examining opposing ideas and read multiple sources both articles and
books.
So much information with not enough time in the day to follow every idea all the
way through. Through the emotional response and on into the logical and reasonable
consequences of such ideas.
The first step in the assembling phase is to be well equipped in the truth. This is done by
knowing God’s Word until it is written on our hearts. Psalm 119:11 (ESV) 11 I have stored
up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
