Lon, let's say we could agree that homosexuality was ok. Would that help you get saved? Of course not! You are throwing out red herrings, rather than face the real issue. Are you trusting in your own works or that of Christ?

All these ethical issues work themselves out when God saves you! He sure did for me.

PS I do not believe in gay marriage, but I am willing to let gays do their own thing. However, when transmen start moving into girl's locker rooms, and taking scholarships from teenage girls and competing in the Olympics with their testosterone filled bodies, in every fiber of every muscle in their body, I do draw the line. I have had trans friends, and I follow Blaire White on Twitter. Even she does not agree with trans men doing the things they are doing, and she is trans! I saw her debate that deadbeat Jonathan Yaniv, and got him arrested for bringing out his taser, which is against the law in Canada. If men want to dress like women or vice versa, that is their business. But, when these pedophiles start pretending to be women to get at children or to get laurels that they couldn't get as men, (because they were not good enough!) then I am standing up to this ridiculousness.
I can tolerate homosexuality as long as it does not affect me personaly. I am against homosexuality primarily because it is against nature, not because of religious reasons

You are putting words in my mouth Jimbone. First of all I don't believe god created sex. It evolved the same as all human & animal species IMHO. Discrimination toward Gays by any Christian is not fair or as you might say CHRISTIAN.
Lon, there is no evidence of evolution; it is a theory.
May I ask, why it is you came into this forum?
You obviously do not believe what the Bible says so why would you want to engage in conversation with Christians?

It seems as though you are trying to trip us up in some way, and that you had an ulterior motive from the start.

We only care that you do not go into eternity without the precious Saviour who died for you. The people you are speaking with on here have a very real relationship with the real, living God. They are sincere, caring individuals.
I can't help but notice that when you first messaged on here you seem to have purposely misled people.

Many folks are helped through this forum, so if you have only come here to try and cause trouble, it would be best to quit the conversation.

Lon, the 10 commandments are not what guide as as Christians. They really were giving to Moses and the Israelities, and are not really repeated in full anywhere else in the bible but Exodus 25 and Deuteronomy 10. There are also Levitical laws in Leviticus which we do not have to follow.

The 10 commandments are good rules for anyone. But Jesus doesn't emphasize them. When we serve Jesus, he writes his laws on our hearts, which is more important.

"You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. 3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2 Cor. 3:2-3

You have this caricature of what Christianity and serving God is. Paul really does speak a lot against homosexuality in the NT. There is no doubt it is wrong. But, not wrong because it is written in an old dead book, by a man long gone from the earth. It is God that writes it on our hearts. God tells us to love others. I try and love homosexuals. I have friends who are gay and I would never hurt them. But I do pray they will be freed from their bondage. God had me look into the gay lifestyle when I was in seminary. I found a lot of BROKEN people, hurting and sad, just like all non-Christians. I saw serial monogamy, and bed hopping. I also have read and researched. There is absolutely no gene for being gay. It's all about brokenness, and hurt people. I pray for these people to come to Christ.

We have a man in our church, who was a flamboyant gay. You can tell he was gay, the minute you meet him. He is a classical musician, music teacher, and was my professor for a course at UBC. He left the gay lifestyle, married a wonderful woman, now going on 30 years ago. He talked at a conference on reaching gays about how God saved him from this very empty lifestyle. I would say he is one of the most spiritual people in our church, and so caring and loving. He and his wife adopted a girl with spina bifida, and they love her so much.

People, with the help of God, can leave the gay lifestyle, if they let the Holy Spirit change them. Besides, as I said before your whole thing with homosexuals is just baiting us with a red herring. I want to speak about Jesus, not the cause de jour!

So your curiosity is being sated? LOL.

No doubt you can find lots of wiggle room when you deny God and the authority of His revealed written Word.
I have looked at one of the Atheist Forums and discovered they are just as dogmatic as the Christian folks, but the Christians are nicer and more polite and thats one of the reasons they make better politicians. Atheists can be so hateful.

Yet you wonder why we don't "hang out" with them more often? Religion is certainly a hot button topic. Politics and religion, they say, not to be discussed in polite company. You could encapsulate the plight of the atheist or non-believer as: the struggle to be free to sin as they please, contrasted against the plight of the Christian: the struggle to be free from sin. Are Christians perfect? Far from it. We are justified before God by faith in the work of His Son on the cross, where He shed His righteous blood for the forgiveness of sin according to the dictates of the law, laws instituted by God, that we may be reconciled to God and attain to life ever after. Then begins the work of sanctification. It is a life long process thereafter.

Do you think you are free of dogmatism?

I did not join this forum to debate, argue or make trouble. I don't think I have slandered or mistreated anyone.

“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” —Joshua 24:15

The decision to follow God is one we must reconcile for ourselves.

Fair enough, Christians are against it for the same reason. It goes against nature, what God intended was marriage between a man and a woman. Anything outside that is adultery.

Agreed. Jesus really upped the ante with “If a man looks at a women with lust” That one still hurts

Yeah but your here on a Christian site talking and getting the Christian perspective, so I agree, I was just making my case more than anything, but you're right I didn't ask you a thing and just kind of jumped in. I apologize.

Lets start from ground zero. So you believe there is no God at all? I have to start here because everything else we believe starts with how we see existence around us, our view of reality, or worldview. So before I can ask anything else I want to start with this. So you believe there is no God, don't know, or do believe in God?

I love how dogmatic many of y'all are, someone posts scripture and y'all drop the red X's and the thumbs down. Christians that hate scripture so much that they can't even put words to their disdain. That will teach us to use scripture against y'all's predisposition.
I wish I could see their faces at that moment. It must look like the anguished torment of hell, for one moment.
Now you’re way out of line. Just because you quoted scripture it doesn’t mean: 1) Our big red x means we hate Scripture 2) That your use (misuse in this case) of Scripture is accurate. Your last sentence above is way out of line.

I haven’t used the red x much, but when I do, it’s not that I disagree with scripture, but their application of it. Huge difference. That last sentence was way over the top.

Seems like their is quite a bit open to interpretation both in ancient times and present.
I am gaining a good insight into the mind set of some members.
Really, so it's wrong for Christians to hold these beliefs you think "judge" you, yet look at you here. You're doing nothing nut judging our beliefs. Why is it okay for you? What makes you the arbiter of right and wrong? Just a point, but please I want to start at the bottom, you believe there is no God right?

Jim, in post #95 Lon says he believes that "all human and animal species evolved".. I may be wrong, but to me that indicates that he doesn't believe in God. His spiritual status is "unsure" but when asked if he is saved, he dodges the question and simply says he's "quite happy" with his spiritual status even though he's unsure of what it even IS...

I know this, but I need him to say it so I can point out that in his completely random worldview, where he believes that in reality we are meaningless pond scum evolved to a higher order, that his cries of injustice fall flat. Who says that it's not his blatant "Christophobia" that is the cause of all evil in the world. Why does he get to make the rules? Why is it not him that's hateful? You know what I mean? I need him to say these things to realize that when you remove God all that's left is opinion. Who's opinion is right? This was all I was moving towards. Thank you though, it's awesome to "see" you as always.
