Why me…

I foolishly asked, why must I have this happen…
Wait, said the soft voice within, would you rather another had to endure this thing that has left you weary and your heart broken?

Some endure hardships we can not even fathom..
Lost children and limbs, just to mention a few, there is so much we can not even imagine.

I hope the next time I selfishly fuss...why me, I quickly thank Jesus that I get to share in the sufferings with them and He.

I hope that my conscience is pricked by He, so that I will care enough to go to my knees and pray for those many suffering much more than me.

Thank You Lord for reminding me, helping me see more clearly…
not to ask why me, but rather ask why am I allowing my response to make it all about me.

Why not you? What makes you (general you, not you necessarily, Renee) exempt from having to suffer and feel pain and heartache? Pain and suffering happens to EVERYONE..

Exactly, YES YES YES. I mean do we wish our sufferings, which yes we all endure, which are nothing compared to others, be given to someone else?

No not good...

Yes dear blue, I 100% agree!!!

some steps I would take:

Jesus, I need your help. You know my past. You know how this person hurt me. You know the depth of my wounds. I want to be free from them. I want to know peace. I don’t want to harbor unforgiveness in my heart any longer. I want to find compassion, and I want to forgive. But I cannot do it on my own. I need Your love in me to love. I need Your power in me, in order to forgive. So, I ask for that now. I trust you with my heart. And I ask that you fill me with Your Spirit and Your Power. Help me forgive this person. Amen.

and after that:

Jesus, I am here with You now. And I ask you to comfort my broken heart. Heal it. It is open and soft, now. It is open and soft toward You, because I trust You and I trust Your way. You are good. You are strong. And I trust You to protect me from now on.

In Your name, Amen.

may I add a verse to this thread?

30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Very helpful, thanks be to God, I am currently not addressing any unforgiveness struggles in my heart. However, when it should rise, which these things always do, I will take your very fruitful wisdom and scriptures shared to heart.

I was just thinking about a friend who had a portion of her foot removed last week, and of another lady who has a sick baby with cancer who just lost her kidney. Or what about starving children in third world countries, orphaned crawling the streets? How about shut in elderly, who have not one person visiting, or women and children
who are beaten near to death, or lonely, broken ppl hanging on for dear life. The suffering goes on and on...a thousand different ways.

So when I say why me...how dare I say why me...

Yee, those are so potent. Thank you for adding...
