Two fundamental laws.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Led of the Spirit, and led of the flesh.

The flesh will fail at keeping the law for there is no good thing that dwells in the flesh, and cannot abstain from sin, and will not accept the truth unless God intervenes in their life when He called them.

A person led by the Spirit will abstain from sin for they will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts, and show the ways of the Spirit, and not the flesh.

Therefore a Spirit led life is not under the law, for their sins are forgiven and they are abstaining from sins, therefore the law cannot touch them for prosecution.

When a person that has been saved sins they forfeit repentance, and are led of the flesh, and back under the law, until they repent of the sin and get rid of it, and turn away from the sin, and mean it, and then they are led of the Spirit and not under the law.

Only those led of the Spirit are not under the law not people that confess Christ but are hypocritical, which they have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.

Two fundamental laws.
“2 For the Law (that which we are about to give is a Law of God, devised by the Godhead in eternity past [I Pet. 1:18-20]; this Law, in fact, is “God’s Prescribed Order of Victory”) of the Spirit (Holy Spirit, i.e., “the way the Spirit works”) of Life (all life comes from Christ, but through the Holy Spirit [Jn. 16:13-14]) in Christ Jesus (any time Paul uses this term or one of its derivatives, he is, without fail, referring to what Christ did at the Cross, which makes this “life” possible) has made me free (given me total Victory) from the Law of Sin and Death (these are the two most powerful Laws in the Universe; the “Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus” alone is stronger than the “Law of Sin and Death”; this means that if the Believer attempts to live for God by any manner other than Faith in Christ and the Cross, he is doomed to failure).”

God has chosen to operate His work from the basis of faith. "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:2) is God's prescribed order of victory for the Believer over sin, the world, the flesh, and the Devil. This means that the Believer must place and maintain proper Faith the size of a mustard seed exclusively in Christ and the Cross of Calvary, i.e., The Finished Work, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, where the victory was won so that His life would be lived through you. This gives the Holy Spirit the legal means to help and do what is needed to be done in the Believers life because the Believer is glorifying Christ, God's beloved Son in whom He is pleased. You are now operating in the spirit. No Believer can fix the flesh with the flesh. All fruits that are added to the leaves of the Believer most be done by the Holy Spirit or you enter the works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21).

The Holy Spirit doesn't require much of us, but He does require one thing, and without reservation. Our Faith must be exclusively be in Christ and the Cross; understanding that this is God's Prescribed Order of Victory (Rom. 8:2).

The Holy Spirit works strictly within the parameters of the "Finished Work" i.e., "The Cross of Christ" i.e., "The Blood of Jesus;" which demands that our Faith be placed and maintained exclusively in the Cross of Christ. The reason is simple, that's were the price was paid, and the victory was forever won (Romans 6:1-14; 1 Cor. 2:2; Gal. 5; Gal. 6:14; Eph. 2:13-18; Col. 2:14-15).

Victory over sin: Romans 8:2
Victory over the world: Galatians 6:14; 1 John 5:4
Victory over the flesh: Galatians 5:24
Victory over the Devil:Hebrews 2:14; Colossians 2:15

The Apostle Paul makes it very clear in Romans 8:10 that the physical body, mind / intellect, and the heart (which is evil - Jeremiah 17:9) has been rendered helpless because of the original sin; consequently, the Believer trying to overcome by willpower presents a fruitless task. Only the Holy Spirit can mortify the deeds of the flesh and make us what we ought to be (Romans 8:13). This means we cannot do it ourselves. Once again, He performs all that He does within the confines of the Finished Work of Christ (Romans 8:2).

If a Christian will and their efforts to live for God is in anything except Christ and the Cross, i.e., Finished Work, The Blood of Jesus (Romans 8:2), Satan can override your will and force you to do things you don't want to do and trying not to do (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus said deny yourself and pick up your cross and follow me (Luke 9:23).

Remember our bodies are dead and useless to God. The heart is prone to wander away from God's love and eat from "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil." The reason why the body is dead is because of the effects of the fall has made us totally incapable of yielding spiritual obedience on a regular basis (Jeremiah 13:23). So there must be a source outside of myself that helps me to enter into sanctification which is the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:13).

The entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command:
"Love your neighbor as yourself."
Galatians 5:14

"In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you.
For this is the essence of the Law and the prophets."
Matthew 7:12

Two fundamental laws.
two birds

This shall be the law of the leper for the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought to the priest. And the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall examine him; and indeed, if the leprosy is healed in the leper, then the priest shall command to take for him who is to be cleansed two living and clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop. And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water. As for the living bird, he shall take it, the cedar wood and the scarlet and the hyssop, and dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water. And he shall sprinkle it seven times on him who is to be cleansed from the leprosy, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose in the open field. He who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean. After that he shall come into the camp, and shall stay outside his tent seven days. But on the seventh day he shall shave all the hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows — all his hair he shall shave off. He shall wash his clothes and wash his body in water, and he shall be clean.
(Leviticus 14:2-9)

one put to death in an earthen vessel over running water
one dipped in the blood, with scarlet, cedar & hyssop, and set free in the open field

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
In plain English this means that those who are in Christ, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, are not under the dominance of sin. They will not face the second death, since they have received the gift of eternal life. Some may not even face the first death if they are present at the Rapture.

It is a mistake to decide that God makes us free TO sin when the Lord frees us from death through Christ's forgiveness. We are free, we are given eternal life, but when we put ourselves in Christ's hands, crucify our flesh, we accept the ways of Christ. Christ never leads us to sin, if we accept Christ in our life and give our life to following Him, we repent of sin and give our will to righteousness.

It does not mean we never sin, but if our will is for the lusts of the flesh then we have not given ourselves to Christ. Paul carefully explains this in the book of Romans.

The Ten Commandments could not save people. God used them to control the unsaved under threat of death. And he promised them temporary rewards for obedience. Apart from the Ten Commandments, some were saved through the new birth/circumcision of the heart. These were the Two Great Commandments that Paul calls the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ, written in their heart. They amounted to Loving God and others as you do yourself. When the New Covenant came, it was based on these Two Great Commandments. These replaced the Ten Commandments, aka the law of sin and death. So in essence, Love rules our hearts and motives now and is salvation. We only use the Ten Commandments for instruction and commentary.

Romans 8: 2. "For the LAW of the Spirit of life IN Christ Jesus has made me free..." This is speaking to salvation by Christ alone, (there is none other name given among men whereby we must be saved). The Law OF SIN AND DEATH, speaks of the end results of sinning that leads to death. (By the law is the knowledge OF sin, and death BY sin). Together they point to two truths, or laws, that are now in effect. One being all, have sinned, and face death. The other, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

we can't Romans 8 without Romans 7. we can't get to Romans 7 without passing through Romans 6. Romans 6 exists because of Romans 1-5.
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
(Romans 8:3-4)
what "law" is spoken of in vv. 3-4
is this the law of sin and death or the law of the Spirit of life?
or if those two are unwritten, abstract meta-laws, which one does 'the law' here in vv. 3-4 fall under?

is it a meaningless unrelated coincidence that vv. 3-4 talks about 'the law' right after speaking of two different 'laws' in verse 2? one that leads only to death and one that is able to give life?
;)

Two fundamental laws.

the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit;
for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
(2 Corinthians 3:6)
coincidence?
unrelated?
or perfect and purposeful?
